So I picked up the mighty beastie today and he was absolutely foot perfect. Was not bothered by a single thing, waltzed into his stable, had a little look around and started eating. So I left him all tucked up and warm, he has been in a field for the last 3 month or so, so he was loving life.

For those who didn't see my other thread, this is Jake, an 8yo 17.3hh Warmblood and he is wonderful. Like a large labrador really! (He is also full/extra full and a 6'9 rug so no faffing!!)

I am sorry for the rubbish photos, I will take some better ones when I go down. Wanted him to just have a chill and get settled first.

He looks gorgeous, congratulations, 17.3hds - wow ! I hope you have a step ladder to get on . Good luck with him

Looks lovely. What a nice boy. Had to laugh when you mentioned the 6ft 9 rugs though .... my highland (14.2, but a bit of a chunk) also takes a 6ft9 ...!! Have fun with him.

Oh gosh, he really is lovely. I adore a nice coloured, especially with a black face and tail (practical :D). Hope you have fun with him. I will look out for your threads as would love even more pictures! :)

Thanks everyone, he also fits in a 3.5 tonne, so got the size that I love but nothing is made difficult by it.... yet! I would be more than happy to inundate you all with photos (and probably silly questions) as we progress. I'll probably not get a chance to ride him in daylight until next weekend now.

I have no huge plans, I would like to concentrate mainly on dressage, and take him out for the 16/17 hunt season, but he is quite green so will be concentrating on balance and core things in the very near future. Plus, as I said, he is like a large Labrador so not the sharpest tool in the box, but very honest and such a kind man that it more than makes up for it!

And again, I love him! I had the OH build me a mounting block that was the same height as the stirrup on my 17.2hh, then he had to lower it drastically for my current 15.1hh! Just use a wall!

I'll show him all your comments tomorrow, he will be best pleased! But honestly, thanks. I can't wait to see his little face over the stable door everyday!

Re: his breeding, I am really not sure. Full Warmblood is all I have been told and I am happy with that haha

I would be interested to know his sire if you have it in the passport! I have a new found love for coloureds after getting my piebald warmblood! I hope you enjoy dressage with him, my mare moves lovely, problem is I don't lol! They look stunning when they are working
