Thick dry skin on fetlock

My mare has a line of thickened dry skin on her fetlock (has had it for years). Sometimes it splits and becomes a sore. I'm currently treating a sore with a combination if vetricyn and honey heal.
Once the sore has healed I'm looking for suggestions for creams to soften and reduce the thickness of the hard skin so it doesn't crack again. Any ideas?
( I've tried Vaseline and sudocrem in the past and neither helped)

I find udder salve, rather than udder cream brilliant for any skin problems. My cob gets scabby behind his knees and this softens the scabs better than anything.

I use emulsifying cream on my mare's mallenders which works really well.
