My Bay luso stallion has a really thick mane and it doesnt matter how often i wash it always looks grey and scurfy at the roots and suggestions or tricks i can use to prevent this

feed seaweed
tea tree shampoo
NAF midge off
mane conditioner

I feed seaweed as its a very good cheap balancer that works wonders on coat condition. If my D's mane is really bad I bath using a tea tree shampoo, then once its dry rub some midge off at the roots, not only does it stop him scratching but does seem to keep mane in good condition. Then spray in conditioner once a week or as needed.

I would refrain from washing too much, as removing the natural oils can make problems worse.

will defo try the seaweed already use tea tree shampoo and mane conditioner, wil try the NAF midge off too as dont want him to rub as want to show him next year thanx trendybraincell x

Seaweed is fantastic, my boy has kept a really nice shiny coat all year and he does tend to get quite scurfy.

I got the midge off initially as fly repellant, but its fantastic at stopping them from scratching too. I find you don't need to apply everyday either, the one bad thing is that it does attract dust (quite badly) but its very easy to brush off.
