Please share your experiences with me. I’ve bought one (medium size very expensive!) for my 14,2 Connemara. I followed fitting instructions, made headcollar noseband bigger than I would normally have it & fastened fins shorter at back. It is big on her & flops all over the place yet the small size would be too small for her I think. Interested to hear how others managed these. Is it like marmite?
 
I have one on my Connie, he has had it roughly 2 years now, he really surprised me by accepting it at all as he hate anything touching his nostrils. It is fairly loose and moves around a bit but he just eats through the hole while the muzzle pushes outwards away from his muzzle which is why I think he accepts it.
 
I love mine, They did take a long time and lots of fiddling about to get right though. I've been using them about 3 years now and i think this year is the first year It's been perfect and I'm not quite sure what alterations i made now!
 
I faffed with mine for ages, managed to get it so it was comfortable when eating but when he lifted his head it would flop over his nostrils. It seemed to restrict his air severely. The bucket type rubbed him though as he has a triangular head. For 2 years I used the FF one as it was the lesser of two evils. I have now found one that doesn't flop over his nostrils and allows more air.
 
I’m on my 3rs year with a houdini section A. He doesn’t mind it and it works to keep him out with the big ones. It doesn’t rub and easy to clean. I have it on a thin leather head collar.
 
I have just bought one and although it took ages to fit properly I am pleased with it. However, on long grass my mare eats out of the side! I have moved her fence so she cannot access long grass and she is still trying to move it (!) but getting grass through the middle hole too. Perhaps I need to move the fins at the back up a hole?

Previous threads give lots of advice on this. I laced the side up with leather shoelaces which worked. Or you can adjust the heights but I can’t remember how! Mine worked out how to get it off so it’s been a few years.

The livery near my horse couldn't get hers to fit well enough to stop their horse eating out of the sides, so has put an extra one on top (with a bigger hole cut in the bottom so that isn't obstructed) and the fins of the second cover all the gaps.
 
I have found them good for my Foresters, they are fiddly to fit and adjust. They do seem floppy at first. They work well though. Mine bust the cable ties off on fence posts so I put two ties on each fin. I also have to clip the throatlash of headcollar to the headpiece buckle to stop the pony pulling it off. I think I used string to tie the fins up to begin with while I was adjusting the muzzle, or freezer bag ties
 

Here's my two in the FF muzzles. The finer one started in hers last summer, through to around October. The chunkier one started this year. The chunkier one took offence for the first couple of days, even planting on her way out to the field, but once she worked out that she COULD eat with it, she's been fine. They are currently out 6pm-7am on the track around my 2 acre field, and have 3kg of High fibre horsehage in the daytime. Both have EMS, the finer one had lami last summer, the chunkier one has never had lami. I'm paranoid about them both, but the muzzles do at least REDUCE the amount of grass they eat, even if it doesn't cut down as much as some other muzzles. Neither try to get these muzzles off, whereas with other muzzles they'd stay on maybe 1 in 5 nights. It's working for us so far 🤞
