We all know HHO are VERY good at having a moan, but how good are you at praising yourself and others?

I once saw some XC on TV and this particular horse was going quite well, but then it ducked out of a fence. Nothing bad, it just skipped around. The rider hopped right off and lead the horse away. He later said "My horse doesn't refuse. If he stopped, he's tired and it'd be dangerous to continue" I just thought it was so sweet that he cared for his horse more than winning.

I also love that Ned usually looks at me as I'm arriving and as I'm leaving and he comes to hang out with me while I'm poo-picking ^^

Sounds strange but I love seeing a jockey having a cry about horses being PTS, it just proves how much they actually care.

Also love having a good gallop on my boy, and seeing how protective he is over his treat ball :)

Seeing that little black face smiling at me over the door and softly calling to me. Being at a show and seeing someone thats horse has done well really pleased with them and showing them them they have, not taking all the glory for themselves, and happy posts of people that have done well and achieved something they thought they could not do no matter how small it may be :)

When cheeky, cocky little ponies (whom I usually dislike working with because they give me such a hard time) are so gentle with younger, inexperienced riders

Or even watching one of SAs Para riders who is COMPLETELY blind finish a dressage test better than I can (admittedly a bit of self loathing creeps in there too:D)

When Kauto won his 5th King George and 2 of the other jockeys (I think it was Richard Johnson and Paddy Brennan) gave him a pat :) You get a lot of jockeys shaking hands at the end of a race but I don't remember the winning horse getting a pat from a jockey other than its own before. I think it showed how much everyone appreciated what an incredible achievement it was :)

I like that too! I don't like that a horse was PTS, but it's good to see emotion.

The sound of munching hay too. My dad was late and I just stood in the dark and listened to the horses munching away ^^ I nearly drifted off!

teenagers :D haha joking

as i know all the hard work that has gone into her being this happy and relaxed :)

Watching ym disabled brother with my poodle puppies as he can really connect with them. :)

What makes me smile? Having a crazy horsey called Bella to own :p:D

She made me laugh yesterday though because she's been in cause of the ice and snow and I went in to muck her out (with her in there) and first she grabbed hold of the top of my shavings fork and tried to waft it around (don't worry I had hold of it!) and then she went and got the handle of the barrow and tried to drag it towards me! She's a 'speshul' one :D

Things like what you've said Annielusian make me smile though too, it's nice to see someone really know their horse inside out like that :)

Warm breath on my skin while BP uses me to rest his head while sleeping. He is totally relaxed when he does that and i feel privileged that he trusts me to look after him.
Also when in the ring at a show to hear someone (usually very old or very young) saying "i like that one best". I don't care what the judge thinks after that and i always love the feeling that there is no other horse in the ring i'd want to take home.

The things that make me smile;

1. All the things that my shetland does...actually it makes me laugh,
2. Having a great training session with my TB and afterwards seeing his relaxed face and a look that says we did good today mum,
3. Hacking on a beautiful sunny day in the countryside,
4. My fat cat snoring when asleep, (in fact he is snoring now :))
5. My horses having a snooze in the field.

I'm sure i could come up with loads more, all to do with my horses but that will do for the moment.

winter nights when the horses are in snuggled into warm rugs and with deep beds. Munching rythmically on their haynets and all looking content and happy! Meanwhile we are either sopping wet or freezing cold and havent even thought about our tea! Ah well, only other horsey people will ever understand how that can warm the heart and bring a smile.

Lots of things . . . choosing the horsey things:

1) The huuuuuge pat Andreas Helgstrand gave Bleu Hors Matine after that epic test . . . the smile on his face was immense and made me warm inside

2) Watching Kauto Star race . . . that horse is magic . . . my heart is always in my mouth, but when he produces oh boy look out

3) The lovely wuffly nicker I get from Kal when he hears me coming up the yard

4) When we've had a particularly good ride . . . either in the school or out on a hack . . . the first time he offered me softness in trot I smiled for a week

5) When I've put him to bed and stand outside his stable and hear him shifting about in the straw, munching contentedly on his straw and sighing to himself and know that he's warm, fed and happy

6) When he wiffles through my hair/ponytail when I'm picking his feet out

7) When he comes to greet me when I walk up to the field . . . I love that he recognizes me as "his" and knows I'm there to take him to his nice, comfy stable and feed him, groom him, generally make him comfortable

8) When he follows me around the field when I go up to poo pick . . . I enjoy his company and I think it's lovely that he seems to enjoy mine

9) When he's panicking about something and he responds to me calming/reassuring him

P

1:Walking into the stable and me and my little boy both get a big soppy lick before we can go in.
2: Whinnying to my little boy and following him round everywhere.
3:The way my dog is so happy whenever he sees us even the I'm sorry mum buti ripped the toilet roll up while u were out look.
4: the nice drivers that stop if you've got a problem to help
5: when someone smiles at you for no reason

My dog!

I don't think I've had a day when he hasn't made me laugh or smile and he's nearly 8!

For example, when he was around 4 months old we had to have our Dobermann PTS (RIP x). When we returned from the vets, all upset, crying etc... I went into my room and my mum came in too. A few seconds after the cheeky monkey ran in with a crisp packet stuck to his face  I'll never forget it as it was like he knew.

I have no shame in admitting to anyone that he is my right arm! He's my absolute soul mate and I smile everytime I see him :D

Haha soppy but true!!

"The sound of munching hay "
me too , love sat having a cuppa while the boys settle for the night , listening to the snuffles and snorts and contented munching never fails to put the world right for me, simple pleasures.
