Bored bored bored! Saddle been away being widened for over a week now. I've done loose schooling over jumps and lunging. Mane has been whittled away. Tail very tidy. Hooves polished. Stables tidy. I'm getting to the point where I might jump on bare back and I've started internet shopping - eek!

Any ideas?!

The other thing you could do is to do some ground work, you know like following without using a leadrope, dropping head when asked, turning quarters when asked?

I muck around doing all sorts of daft stuff like this and its quite good fun.

Ride.......Ride...... Ride......My saddler is a big fan of bareback , says it really helps them relax and round naturally. Also really good to feel whats going on , just dont be as ambitious as usual , go for a really long amble and enjoy your horse , there is more to life than schooling.

Ditto just bareback it!

Pop a numnah and roller on and it's much more comfier. And you don't get a hairy arse :p

Another vote for bareback :D I'm waiting for the saddle fitter to come and fit my youngster for her 1st saddle so have been doing lots of bareback riding recently!

Ahhhhh maybe I will try bareback... off to look for sofa cushions and bailing twine, as have no air jacket thing - ha ha!

Groundwork would be good too!

Thanks for ideas!

i LOVE bareback :) ride bareback quite often, it really improves balance and seat- i had to turn to bareback when my saddle started hurting my pony. i started off tipping sideways in walk around corners, after a couple of weeks i was trotting circles, serpentines and cantering and jumping about 3ft 9 :D also find it muuch easier to do leg yeilds/turn on the forehands etc and training to the leg. adn seat

..lol i love it ;)

I'm in a similar, temporary, situation as saddle's off being reflocked. We're long reining and walking out in hand.

Bareback is not an option - horse is VERY sharp and sensitive and will totally freak out if I loose my balance (or do any form of flapping or gripping to regain it;)) I don't mind falling off, but it'll freak him out no end.

Bareback- I usually rude bareback in the week as I think it's quite good for balance and a lot quicker than tacking up!

BAREBACK??? Are you lot crazy, i can just about muster no stirrups on my cob who is really a tb in disguise. Would love to try bareback but but but ........

Never mind the hairy bum, I'm more concerned about the lines of scurf I get down my calves :o :p

Just go for it! You only have to do what you want. I can't canter in the saddle without stirrups, but bareback, no problem! Trot is awkward but I want to work on that. I can sit to his jog but not his cob trot :p

Have fun and take photos! :D

Oh horses!! Having turned up with sofa cushions and hip flask with every intention of being brave .... I found a very smug looking horse with a fat leg. PAHHHHHHHH

Don't you just love them??

Fingers crossed my saddle is back before the leg is back to normal! hee heee

Oh no poor you! lol!

Hehehe my lad loves bareback :D
