Things you've found in a hay bale?

What a fun thread...
I have found a kitchen knife. Plenty of bones from... I hope animals!!
A hairbrush... Most of a Christmas tree!...
A very mangled wicker basket
A stirrup leather..

Cant think of much else!!

Oh wow!

Those are definitely odd things to find!

Teddy bear!

Was when we were younger and playing find the bear in the hay field, lost the bear in the grass then found it a month later in one of the hay bales :p

As a kid the best thing ever was looking for and finding the kittens that we knew the lovely yard cats had had in the hay shed somewhere!

I lost a ring at the yard. I can't be certain where as I just looked down and it was gone. Two years later I found it just at the base of a half used bale of hay. Whether I lost it in the field and it ended up in the hay and fell out when someone shook it up or whether I lost it in the hay shed I couldn't say as I'd been in both the hayfields (which get grazed after the hay has been cut) and the hay shed the day I lost it. They hayshed will have been swept out twice though at the end of each winter and is a flat concrete floor with nowhere for things to hide so I veer towards the field.

Never anything interesting, bits of barbed wire was the worse... dull
Some of these are weird! Some you can understand but some are plain odd!

I've found a whole hen squished in a slice one. The smell was unreal, I burnt the whole bale just to be sure!

A small unsupervised child who was playing hide and seek in the barn. They had pulled half of my already opened round haylage bale down around them into what can only be termed an improvised gilly suit. Needless to say that they got a quiet lecture about safety and the cost of haylage!

I had a round bale once which about a quarter of the way through I started finding feathers; pheasant, I think. As I unwrapped the hay I found more and more. Never found the pheasant though so I'm hoping it was just a close shave!
