Just reminded myself why jumping in a hat with a fixed peak is not the best idea!!!
Was out for a hack on the estate today and came across their new hunt jumps, jumped it from the uphill side forgetting the landing would be 6 inches or so lower than the take off!! As he landed I went down hard and smacked the peak of my hat off the back of my left hand ( dont ask how lol) and somehow managed to stay on but I hit my head so hard the peak is bent!!!

So pleased with my boy though, he was so honest bless him, jumping a 2 ft 9 wall without working up to it is quite a big achievement for him as he's still quite green!! :D
Lesson learnt though!

It's horrible when you bash your head :( hope your ok, I fell off with a crash hat on, but it was pushed into my eye, I had a massive black eye and double vision for a while, but the hat saved me I think.

As you say - it's a lesson learnt - your ok ;)

i fell off today, jumping and landed on my head not the best way to go but taz was good just stood to let my instructor leg me back up

Was just so shocked i stayed on!! Lost both my stirrups at flat out gallop but somehow managed to get them back and pull him up! I've never really thought about it before tho, will stick to the scull cap for jumping from now on!
