I did try out a WOW dressage saddle a short while a go.
I found it comfortable, but was not entirely sure I could get on with it. So as I promised myself, I also tried out several conventional dressage saddles before making a decision.
On balancing everything up I decided that I could not risk paying that amount of money and not getting on with it - so I went for an Albion SLK instead and love it.
I had Fiona to fit (same as above) and she was excellent - really took the time to fit it properly.
I had to get mine adjusted quite a bit when I first got it basically because my horse built up topline so quickly. Initially it needed either air adjustments and the headplate changing roughly every 3 months. I eventually also needed to change the panel as well as her withers became so thick she needed more room to accomodate them. However in the last year other than a very minor air adjustment it hasn't needed any attention at all and horse is near enough perfectly symmetrical and has huge topline.
This could have been achieved with a well fitted conventional saddle too but the beauty of wow/flair is that the adjustments can be done there and then without having to send the saddle off for weeks on end and it can also be adjusted while you are actually riding.
I personally find them very comfy to ride in and my horse definitely does! I would never go back to a conventionally flocked saddle now.
I have 2 WOWs now a conventional Dressage with extra deep seat & a VSD with a shallow & a spare deep seat, love them both!! I bought the VSD 2nd hand.
I really wouldnt ride my horses in anything else now i also have a good fitter.
Would recomend that you ask for a trial from the fitter if you decied to go for one. I had my Dressage WOW on trial for 2 weeks before buying it, although i knew the minute i sat on it i wanted it.
I know some fitters dont do this though. Its also a good idea to know what flaps & Seat you want to try, as differant flaps & seats can feel very different. If poss get the fitter to bring as many different combinations as possible so you can find what you like best, you may already know what you want i did so didnt try loads of combinations.
I've been thinking about getting a WOW for a while, and we're only a few miles away from First Thought, so shouldn't have a problem with fitters! I'm definitely going to try one, but as we haven't had transport and Flash has been lame for so long, we haven't had a chance yet
Hopefully now we're at the new yard we'll be able to get them to come to us as we've now got the facilities to give it a proper trial!
The advice I was given from a qualified WOW fitter is that if they fit your horse than it will fit beautifully and your horse will go like a dream. However if they don't fit, then they really won't fit and you should consider a different saddle.
I'm trying to decide on a dressage and a jumping saddle and it's a bloomin nightmare!
I have the deep seat and the giant fixed blocks. Am about to change the flaps to the conventional dressage though as I don't need quite as much in front of my leg anymore.
I tried 2 different seats and 3 flaps (at different angles) before finding the perfect combination for me and Bailey.
Fitting/ finding the right saddle took about 2 1/2 hours!
