Think it's an abscess!

I posted below about twisted fetlock however there is heat in the foot now and leg is heat/swelling free so think he has an abscess.
I will poultice. Is there anything else i should do? Doubt I would get the farrier anytime soon

Just looked at your other post, I would stop the bute, I would turn out and tub and poultice for the next few days, I would also contact the farrier to ask for a visit asap, even if he is not working over the weekend that should get you to the top of the list for Tuesday morning, my farrier would come out today if I asked, many others do work Saturdays so get onto it just in case.

I had a vet diagnose hock strain when it was a hind foot abscess.I was away and a house sitter noticed the old boy (late 20'sT/B) lame behind She phoned me and i said ring farrier unfortunately he was in Ireland looking at youngstock and said best get vet but he would be out as soon as he got back (this was Thursday and he was back on tuesday)Vet said stiff in hock bute rest and they would come back monday.I got home sunday looked at the horse my first thought abscess so poulticed the foot.By the time the vet arrived monday afternoon the abscess had bursed with loads of pus.
I asked the vet why they had not gone for abscess and she said he looked stiff behind !!! This was an ex racing T/B then aged 28 with spavins of course he could be stiff behind.Farrier came out tuesday tidyed up the exit hole to drain it better.
that was a £100 mistake!!
If no obvious cut or swelling abscess is always first port of call.

Ye have contacted the farrier so hopefully he can get out over next few days and I will keep poultice till then.
Def no heat/swelling or cuts etc on the leg but hopping lame.
The bulb of the heel feels very hot and a bit squishy so maybe it's in there
