Think its time up for my little girl

Our little Shetland in my sig, she is crippled with arthritis

been doping her up with bute to try to relive the pain but not making her any more comfortable

think the time has come to let her go and stop her pain. The worst thing is she is my little girls pony, have tried to gently tell her, she is so upset

It isnt easy but I think you know in your own mind it is for the best. Children often deal with this sort of thing better than adults though.

Sorry to hear this. It's so very sad

but as you know, it is worse to watch her being as uncomfortable as you describe. You know in your heart when the time is right, and nothing makes it easier. When I had to decide to let my mare go, it was heart wrenching as I had grown up with her for 13 years. It was, however, the only decision as there was nothing more they could do for her & she was clearly in pain. Making me well up now thinking about it (it was 6 years ago!) but when the time comes, you know. Huge hugs xxx.

I sort of know how you are feeling through my parents as they had to make this decision with my first pony.Now looking back i know it was the absolutely right decision for my boy, although at the time i couldn't bare it at all.

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel. I had to put my 2yrold down on monday as he had a rare deforamity in his c3 joint, hard as i had had him from really small then in to a stunning looking colt. but u know its for the best. xx

Your daughter will cope, as we all have to learn to do, the price we pay for keeping horses and having so much fun with them, is learning and taking responsibility for a good end for them. Best wishes to you all.
