Some of you may remember my post from the end of May after I did my first ODE at Shelford. I had one stop but was still buzzing after the XC. You were all very kind and gave me some very encouraging comments which have spurred me on. Well, since then I tried a hunter trial at Eland Lodge but had to withdraw when he went lame in the warm up. I then did a ODE, also at Eland and went well in the dressage and SJ but had a run out at the last fence!! I was so disappointed, we would have won if I hadn't been a total numpty and stopped riding.
Anyway, today I was a woman on a mission, we entered the 70cm so I could concentrate on getting the right speed and not worrying about the fences. It was the same course as the ODE so I was extra determined at the last and - he went clear!!! :D Not just clear but clear and fairly fast, he was really flying. From the ODE I knew the kind of speed to go and he just kept in a lovely rhythm, I let him go forward and he was awesome. I have to admit I gave a massive woohoo as we cleared the last. I was keen to see the results and was over the moon to see we came second AND we've qualified for the national finals in October, so we get to do it all again. What a star, I love my horse.
A pic from an earlier HT, same course and exactly the same last fence:

And one from schooling over the bigger fences on the course when I had super strong brave pants on:

Did I mention I love my horse? :D
Sorry if the pics are mahoosive, I don't know how to resize.
