had a call from a nice sounding lady, she wants my saddle which is fine but she said she is sending me out a building society cheque and for the payment of postage, what do i do now? obviously i wait for the cheque to arrive and clear before i send it....i'm not that daft!
how would you suggest i package it?

Kezz I reckon I've a perfect box for it, I'll PM you. Building Society cheque should be fine, you don't need to wait for it to clear (as it's money removed from the person's account for the BS to write the cheque from themselves) but you do need to check with the BS that it's a genuine cheque and not stolen/forgery

Mine came in the post in a large brown box. The saddle was wrapped in plastic, and was sitting the same way as you would if you put saddle on floor and propped up against a wall. Also leaves a hollow space in the box for any extras like girth and stirrup leathers/ stirrups etc. It arrived with no damage.

Get a BIG box and some bubble wrap, wrap up the saddle in the b/wrap etc. If you go on the 'Parcelforce' website you can buy the postage online and then deliver the box to your local PO or parcelforce depot. I've just sent one this way - as they say on the ad 'simples'

Yes I think old fashioned BS cheques are drawn 'from the building society' not from the actual account ie the BS take the money from the account and then write their own cheque as in the olden days BS were not banks and you had an account and could draw out money as cash or a BS cheque, so rather than the cheque saying 'Mrs A Smith' as the account name, it was 'BigTown and BiggerTown BS' . However given most of the BS have turned themselves into banks now I'd be wary and ask your bank's advice as to when it would be cleared when you pay it in, or ask in the issuing BS (several have branches in Woodley, as do the main banks).
