One of my springers, getting skinny, and she just doesnt have that same light in her eyes anymore, they dont sparkle like they usedto. I think this will be her last xmas with us, though I hope I am wrong, she is just seeming to get very old all of a sudden, she was picking up with my back in september fine, but that seems a lifetime ago now

Oh, sorry to here that - its horrible when the sparkle seems to fade from their eyes. Happened to one of our old dogs. She left us shortly after, bless her

Oh dear what a shame. Our big dog had his 8th b'day on the 12th & you van tell some days he's had enough. Try adding some tripe to it's feed helpas to put on weight & condition. (just an idea) also I would add some ester-c into the feed which is what I give our labs. OH could tell I'd been giving it to his big dog when he got back from visiting his daughter in Lanzarote as he wasn't creeking when he got up after lying down for a while! & I didn't tell him I was putting it in!!!

I felt this post was so spooky as I lost my Jessy a week last friday. She was a GSD but she went down hill with her condition that last week. We knew we had to make the decison to say good bye for her own sake. God how awful it is to be a animal lover.
I know how you feel as well.

Our Jessy indeed lost her sparkling eyes and her coat went terrible and she lost a lot more weight which she had little to spare.
She also clung to us far more as if she knew.
WE decided she could do all the things not normally allowed. She slept on the settee with us and in the bedroom and even went on our bed. She was allowed to eat things not normally given often like sardines every meal. I just made her last days as lovely as I could for her.

I hope you have more time then you think. They certainly leave big holes in your life that is for sure.
