Think my saddle fitter has conned me, what do i do?

Firstly check and see if she is a qualified saddle fitter
http://www.mastersaddlers.co.uk

Ask the saddler who checked your saddle to write a document advising that there is nothing wrong with your old saddle

Then confront her.

Recently had a similar problem with a brand new saddle, made especially for the horse. Not only doesn't fit. But also one side has more stuffing than the other. When questioned about the unevenness declared that there was nothing wrong and that the panels were fine. Grudgingly flocked up the lower side. Rider now sitting straight.

Your easiest way to proceed is not with expert opinions etc it is with consumer protection law. I'm a saddle fitter. Your credit card company is a really good option, now if they need an expert opinion so be it, you can get into that. Your other option is with trading standards, she hasn't a leg to stand on - she didn't even give you a copy of what you signed let alone Ts&Cs. Follow one or both of these routes rather than trying to tackle this on your own, they will advise you what second opinions etc you need. If she is an SMS QSF or Master Saddler then yes, by all means involve the SMS.

Hi all,
So I email her yesterday stating all my issues and not had a response as of yet. I asked her to reply in writing. I have contact gfs to advise them and they have asked me to keep them posted. I've also taken it up with my credit card company who are starting the ball rolling. Well I assumed I was just signing to say I'd had the saddle but 100% she did not give me any paperwork. She is a qualified master saddler but I don't believe after looking into it that she has done a saddle fitting course or apprenticeship just the saddle making

The saddler I had issues with took my saddle away for a full reflock, apparently a SMS saddler did the reflocking not the woman that came out to fit it. Interestingly they managed to get it not only uneven and lumpy but to pad it so as to accentuate the horses unlevelness, not correct it.

Always ask for a copy of anything you sign :). And to everyone else if you are not given a copy of the fitter's terms and conditions then they have not told you your legal rights and you have a very very strong case if anything goes wrong especially if they come to you to fit your horse, not you going to their premises.

just to update - i have now had a full refund from said saddler however i had to fight hard for it as they had lots of excuses as to why the new saddle was such a bad fit, such as lack of facilities at my yard (i.e no school) even tho we have indoor stables with concrete floor and a nice flat riding field. They tried to say i asked for that saddle, they didn't recommend it and don't carry it in there stock but they had to order it in especially as i wanted it! which they then back tracked on when i mentioned two others just down the road from me who where sold the same saddle. not to mention that my horse changed abit over the 6 weeks i was using the saddle and i had another saddle fitter out this week to get some decent advice and he thought my horse had a sore back, yesterday the physio lady came and advised my horse is very sore and tight in his muscles along his shoulders and back and now needs at least 4-6 weeks off work before even seeing a saddle again. i find it unbelievable that this person has not officially qualified as a saddle fitter just a saddle maker yet she is out fitting saddles and causing damage such as this.
unfortunately i am now aware of at least 4 people just local and recently who have had similar bad experiences with the same saddler and the pyhsio lady also has treated another horse in the last week who has had the same issue from the SAME saddle fitter.
im miffed as to how this is allowed to happen?????
