Think this is the saddest horse advert I have ever seen

Poor wee thing, she looks so gentle. She could do with a lighter rider in those pictures, she's very slight and so young. I hope someone decent buys her. Reminds me of a little mare I once saw at Beeston, about 15hh, standing head down in full harness, very thin and a huge barbed wire scar round one hind leg. I still kick myself today for not rescuing her but I had no trailer to take her home. It haunts me though!

Oh gosh.. the poor little mare. She has such a baby face!
She is in my area too. Unfortunately breaking that young is quite common around here, they then trot them to death on the roads.
I wish I could take her and just put her in a field for a year and let her be a baby

That is just so sad. I think we all know what type of "seller" that is. I'm trying hard to be politically correct here - bet you won't get a landline tel no!!! These peole get me so angry. I hope she finds a loving home.

Already backed as ride and drive at 2!! Seems VERY young!! Will make 15hh.... thats if her growth hasn't been stunted by being ridden at an early age!!

I know some peeps will slap me as TB's are backed at an early age, but still........ sorry if I have offended!!

I dont like racers being backed so young either, but at least it is done by pros who keep their weight down and we have bred them to mature much faster then other horses.

Why do people buy babies if they want a riding animal right away? Given time and treated right, your horse cold still be in work when it hits 30.Work it too early and you will ***** it up,seems simple enough to me :(

As I said in previous post, will end up at Appleby Fair. No doubt about that.

My thoughts exactly!

Shocking pics. She looks so depressed, then when you see the pics you can see why :( horrible

Wish mother-in-law would let me keep all three!! I'd keep the 17 year old for my 2 year old nephew. The others I'd trun away for a year then prob sell on as I wouldn't have time enough time to give them and the one I have the attention they need. May try and talk her round but don't think she'll go for it :( :(

My thoughts completely Doublechoclab. Poor little thing has probably been hammered around the local streets with a cart for hours too, so set itself up for major arthritis not far down the line.

Have you seen the date on the photos on HM? Feb 08 - when she was yearling! How could they!!!!

Perhaps not. I took some photographs on wednesday morning of a bike i'm selling and the date on the images was 1/1/05!! Not sure what happened to the camera but could be a genuine error. Never the less, it doesn't take away the fact that this animal is being forced to grow up a little too quickly.

I dont want to be offensive but there is no such thing as a 'fast maturing' breed. There are breeds who muscle up young (qh) and breeds who attain adult height young (TB) but the growth plates in the legs and back close at pretty much the same time (give or take 6 months for filly/colt differences) in any horse.

I can't quite agree with how young TB's can be backed but as has been said at least it is done by professionals with lightweight riders and they are only really asked to go in straight lines (I know the track is an oval but its not like a 20m circle).

I personally wouldn't touch any horse backed before it was a late 3yo because I can't afford the vet bills. I know some do stay sound but backing young does predispose to joint and back problems.

The date must be wrong as February 2008 is over 2 years ago. If she is 2 years and 4 months, she would only have been 2 months old in Feb '08!!

But, poor little soul, having done all that at that age. Hopefully she won't be ruined for life.

I posted a thread yesterday about her! I would really love to save her, turn her away for 2 years and then she what she's like. Poor girl needs some TLC and the chance to be a baby. Please please can someone rescue her, even if it's just for a year or so to give her the chance to grow up.

TBH that's not strictly right. Flat horses tend to have smaller lighter race jockeys but national hunt can have big buggers on them too - perhaps not in the actual race but many many work jockeys are 10 stone plus. When I rode work the two lads riding where both 6ft and easy in excess of 10 stone.

Some trainers like having big lads riding work so the race jockey feels that much lighter to the horse and hopefully go that bit quicker. Its like training with extra weight to build strength and stamina.

Jumps horses wouldn't normally be backed before 3 to 4 years old. They can't race in NH or p to p races until they're officially 4, so unless they come across from the flat, most of them wouldn't be backed at 2! Flat horses would be backed at rising 2 to be raced as 2 year olds. Jumps horses seem to do NH flat races/point to points at 4 or older depending on type. There aren't many 4 year olds around the point to point circuit - poss more in hurdles though!
