I'm out of action for about 6 weeks in March/April and thought it would be a good opportunity to get Badger up to scratch on his Dressage...

We have a very good dressage yard near us but I'm thinking they will be very expensive and mum isn't keen because she says she'd be worried if he gets colic (which he does, more than we'd like).

So, do you think it's worth it?? How long would he have to be there to make any difference and would I be better spending my money on lessons when I'm back on form??

rather than sending your horse away perhaps you could get a local trainer to come and ride him 3 times a week and perhaps your mum might be able to lunge a couple of times in the week. This way you don't need to worry about the stable management side and the cost would poss be slightly cheaper than full training livery at a pros yard.

Ill have him! Not saying hell be schooled, and you probably wont get him back!

That sounds like a good idea, by tayloredeques... that way saving him getting too much change in his diet/surroundings etc. if you are anywhere near me I know of a few riders I can recommend, I also know of a girl who looks after horses when people go away, and she rides but I don't know how well.

Yea I think you are right.. My mum keeps him for me and a couple of girls ride him in the week so he wouldn't have to have all that time off - just a bit of chill time for him.

I should be up for a bit of gentle hacking after 3 - 4 weeks (although I won't get that on B!) but I should be able to ride one of mums so she will ride B for me.

I think I'm probably better off saving my pennies for lessons - then at least I'm not waisting loads on livery.

Thanks everyone!
