As my horse is injured and not sure how long she will be off i am thinking of getting a loan horse for a while untill she comes back into work,or another thought i was to buy a cheap horse to bring on as a project to be ready for next summer.

Not sure wht to do??

I did this last year when Jack was off with a tendon injury. Myself and a friend took on a loan horse. We both rode 3 days a week, and took it in turns to do her on her day off. On the plus side it improved my riding loads, but on the downside I was totally knackered. Doing 2 horses 3 days a week was a killer (hats off to all those that have more than 1 horse and work full time). They were both on DIY and I was consious that I wanted to still spend time with Jack, grooming, taking him for grass in hand etc.

I had lots of offers to ride other horses, but as I'm sure you know, it's just not the same as your own!

I had this other horse on loan from May till Oct, as Jack then came back into walking work etc and I just didn't have the time.

It is fun, but v knackering to! I guess it depends if you work full time and if they are both on DIY or Livery!

Good luck!

If you can afford it, go for the project horse. You would probably get more out of it, but then you may fall in love with it and not want to sell it.
