Hi,

I have a 12hh pony who is a bit of a handfull.

When my daughter rides her she really bucks and goes mad but settles down after 10 mins or so.

She was my first, and I don't really won't to sell her but my daughter doesn't like riding her now just in case she falls off. I don't blame her really.

She is 12 years old and very cute.

Do you think someone would buy her or shall I keep her?

I have a 3 year old friesian and they seem to be best friends.

Please help........

Has she had her back, saddle, teeth etc checked? Is she perhaps cold backed?

At the end of the day she is telling you something by acting in that way, especially if she calms down after about 10 minutes. If you rule out all physical issues first, then how about lunging or long reining her before your daughter gets on?

Bottom line is that at your daughter's age riding should be fun though. Having things like this happen could put her off for life.

Hope you get to the bottom of this, definitely sounds like something is making the pony uncomfortable.

I had the vet out to her when she started bucking. Back and everything seems fine.

I brought her two years ago and she has been restabled twice and was not ridden for over 6 months.

If I really exercise her first she does seem alot better.

does sound cold backed but could be just over exhuberant or a mix of the 2. des she get much work? is there a riding school who could take her on loan? , give her a fair amountof work and she might just stop doing this altogether.
