I've noticed that my new rescue pony who's 2 1/2 has rather prominent third eye lids in both eyes ( both are wall eyes). His eye are not watery and there is no gunk around them. He seems very healthy. I managed to find pictures online of him when he was 5 months and they look exactly the same. Is this a baby thing or something to be concerned about?

Here's a picture

I have another pony who has wall eyes and he has no visible eye lid. It just catches your eye a bit, Ive got the vet coming up on the next week or so, I'll get his views. I was just looking to see what everyone thought?

Well, my first reaction to the thread title was "do horses even have a third eyelid" so I'm not much use lol. Hope it isn't anything to worry about (i wont look at the photo coz i don't like eyes)

I would get it checked. My old horse had a tumour on his third eyelid (but only one of them so unlikely to be that). I happened to mention to the vet the corner of his eye was a bit red when he had his jabs and he was being operated on the next day! (Never did dare tell him I'd first noticed it several months before). Anyway, he was fine. That was 17 years ago and he lived for another 16 with a slightly paranoid owner but no ill effects. May just be the pony's conformation. You could always email the photo yo them to look at and they will tell you if he needs checking over.

Ooh what a cutey!

Not sure whether these are any more pronounced than normal? I'm wondering whether it maybe just looks more obvious due to the lack of pigment?

Many years ago I worked at a riding school that doubled as a dealers yard in many respects. They had a little mare whose third eye lid was constantly about a third across her eye. Vet advised that it could be removed but wasn't restricting vision etc- owner should have taken that advice though because buyers were obviously put off by it.

I hope it turns out to be nothing :-)

As he's two and a half now it may be nothing, just the way he is. Usually with young foals it's something noticed if the foal has an infection. It usually goes once the infection is cleared up. There are other scary reasons for the third eyelid to move over the eye like this but it's probably not them and your vet should be able to figure out why it is the way it is.
