Right well yesterdays dressage outing was erm interesting ;)! We are determined to finally get our eye back in to this dressage malarkey, so went out again to do N37 and E53 at another venue we have been to many times and is only round the corner.

As our times were late (16:34 and 17:05) and its so close, I had a lie in, Topaz got to go out in the field and I also managed to have a lovely mother's day morning with mummy Hyde! Got Topaz in washed her legs and tail, loaded up and we were away, I could so get use to having such late times :D!
Arrived, tacked up and into the warm-up, trying to avoid the rather excitable horse already in there, and Topaz felt odd, hoppy almost :(... Took her back out, took her bandages and overreaches off, and she felt fine after that, so could have been her having a giddy moment or the touch of mud rash she has rubbing on the over-reaches but in any case we now only had about 15 mins before our first test!

Novice 37 however went ok! A little distracted on Topaz's part, but it mostly felt ok. Our rein-back could have been straighter, we have some tension through our medium trots so we had too much up rather than lengthening, but overall it was fairly good, though after last time I was not counting my chickens :D!
I knew I was the first in the elementary as there had been a withdrawal, so a quick run round the warm-up and we were back in. So we started well, good CL and halt, turn left and onto the first medium trot all good and then the bell went! Hmm sure I'm right, get to the judges box, she's says I should have circled at S... My blank face prompted her to say it is E57, wait nooo it's E53!!!! So judge went to check, I went and read E57, mum agreed to call so off we go again. Riding it totally blind with mum doing her best to give me enough time to know what should be next, Topaz bless her really trying to go with me, half way through the bell goes again, now seriously I'm only doing what mum is saying and she has the test right there!!!! Back to the judges box, oh yeah erm it is E53, so back to the start we go... Oh hum lol :o

So on our third entry and CL for our elementary test we managed to get all the way to the end!
Not our best test surprisingly lol, we had incorrect canter strike offs, I went wrong, we had a jog in the extended walk and a good ole spook in one medium canter. However if you don't laugh and all that :o:D!

Patted her and got her sorted, it wasn't her fault and she did try very hard but had over cooked somewhat by the last attempt, we had a good line in sideways head wiggling for our third CL ;). Went to see the damage and we'll blow me down, first in the novice open with 66.96%! Then the laughable elementary.... A respectable, in the circumstances, 62.64% and a shiny third place!

So overall pleased, but seriously have I wronged the BD gods? Please can I have some good luck soon!

Our final attempt at E53, please don't judge us too harshly I feel it went as well as it could, though my confused face when I realised that the 10m circle then walk transition doesn't happen at this end of the arena does make me chuckle :o.

I've already booked our next test, but I'm a little apprehensive about what is going to happen next :D.

Well done for the novice test, and the judge really needed to be sacked for the Elementary. Getting it wrong twice!! Well done any way

Thanks, not a world beating score in the novice but chuffed to win :). In the judges defence she was given the wrong sheets, but when a whole class is telling you they have all learnt E53 you think they might have checked a bit quicker :o:o. Also made me chuckle that she didn't ring the bell when I went wrong in our final attempt, I think it had stopped working from over-use ;)

Ha ha! Three attempts to start a test? That's greedy!

:D:D You would have thought with all the mooching about the arena we did Topaz would have settled and stopped spooking, though I'm claiming it as a record for how many times does it take to complete a dressage test :D.

Wow, you did very well in the circs then. Third place with 3 attempts at starting the test? Well done for keeping your composure, that's bonker. And two lovely frillys. Not bad at all !

And just watched your vid. What fabulous bouncy paces your girl has. Is she part-Tigger? she's lovely !

Thanks, I thought she did very well and it's always lovely to get some rosettes!

Do you think if I'd only had one attempt we might have won? ;):D:D
:D I do think we should have called her Tigger, but no she's a Fresian x Hackney so if in doubt knees up!

Ah I did wonder about Hackney with those knees ! Looks like a fun horse to ride.

She is super fun, if very sharp and does a good sideways teleport when there's monsters lurking!
The Hackney thing must be rubbing off on me though as my youngster is also half Hackney! My stomach muscles are not amused, sitting trot is a killer!

What a lovely girl you have there. She looks a lot of fun. Well done on your placings! I love posts like this :D

:) Thanks, she's just the best and deserves her rosettes, though she did appreciate the carrots more :D.
