This board moves fast - too fast?

My word this is a popular forum. I've posted on some popular places, but this one fair races along. 12 hours is often enough to change the first page of threads to new ones and often the first two pages. Does anyone else think that this stifles discussion on some of them as the new ones become the attention grabbers? I don't know if there is a solution, but it sure shows the popularity of horses.

No, I like how fast it moves. If theres a post that Id like to check or comment on again and its gone off the first pages its not hard to find it.

No the popular or contraversial threads stay on the first couple of pages if you use the New Post option. Some posts will drop into obscurity quickly but it maybe that the title needs ot be more specific or eyecatching to attract replies.:)

When you have been on here for longer you will realise that NOTHING stifles a good debate on HHO:D:D:D and sometimes using the search facility saves you making a post asking about something that has lots of existing threads about it already:D

I think it is fine, but if people made more use of the different boards (i.e. post photos in PG, videos in VV) it would make things a bit easier.

Really interesting (of course I mean 'controversial' not interesting :D) threads do tend to stay on the first page or so for days, sometimes weeks on end :D

I do feel a bit bad that some threads go unanswered, I will sometimes do a trawl and attempt to reply to any that have had no replies. Agree with whoever said making the title informative will help!

The HHO forum is by far the busiest and most regularly populated UK forum I have come across so far and I belong to a lot of, mainly driving, forums.

Apart from the fact that I get more questions on my particular knowledge base (trailer towing and LGV rules) on here than any other there is also the soapbox which lets me, as a male, get to read what you females never talk to us males about :D :D

Yes, I must miss loads of interesting threads as I tend not to open the ones that dont give a clue what they are about in the title.

You just need to look at the number of replies; anything that goes to more than one page (assuming you are set up to 40 posts per page) is usually 'interesting' in one way or another

Yes I'd agree with that. Often a title doesn't grab me, but if it stays on the front page, and gets 40+ responses, I'll go in and have a look as there seems to be something "interesting" ;) going on!

oh no, by interesting I dont necessarily mean busy. I tend to avoid the ones where it goes into a lot of pages, unless Ive been reading it from the start, as its usually a bunfight and I cba.

I generally take a look at the bunfights, and decide from there whether I can be bothered reading right back to the start and whether I want to have a say.

Sometimes I do want a say, sometimes I cba either. It all depends what it's about.

I do try not to be the sort of poster who joins in several pages in by starting, "I haven't read the rest of the thread but...". That can be very annoying, when people make wrong assumptions or drag the thread back endlessly over the same ground because they want to join in, but cba to catch up.

That's why I like HHO, its busy and loads to read. A lot of the forums I go on were killed off or slowed down with the increase in popularity of FB whereas HHO keeps going strong.
There's always something of interest to look at, horse are an interesting & at times emotive subject. Long may the site continue :)

I am relatively new, having been a "lurker" previously - I like the fact it is fast moving. I've so far, found it to be informative - and even if I don't agree with all the advice, it gives me plenty to think about :)
