This horse is a SAINT.

(not aimed at you criso - thanks for the translation!)

how the hell do you guarantee "only light back pain.."

ARGHGHARJAHG god it wasn't even as if the man was ENJOYING that round - Hell, his balls must've KILLED, why was he carrying on?

If they think its okay to allow him to complete the round, I wonder what their version is of "perfect condition to jump again..."

Let's hope not, eh? Can't have him reproducing.
Actually, I have the suspicion that he's a stunt rider as well. There's no WAY he could be so awful and not kill himself; His striding isn't a problem, his balance is good in between jumps, he loses his stirrups ALL the time and doesn't fall off... I'm utterly confuzzled. I know a rider who is almost that shocking, but his rounds nearly always end in elimination

Sorry but that made my LMFAO

In response, i thought it was a joke round until he smacked the poor horse

It has got to be a set up, he does one with no stirrups at all, if he was realy that poor he would have been on the deck. Seems a realy stupid thing to do - nice horse though.

I have watched this over and over again. I hope he is a stunt rider. Couple of odd things. If he is a competitor then he has no number-maybe they don't have them but hey.
His balance is exceptional.
He doesn't appear to be yanking at the mouth and using his reins to stay on.
The only thing that I really see no reason for is the use of the crop which sadly does appear to be real. (I thought maybe he just slapped his boot but it doesn't look that way.)

We don't wear numbers in Argentina. I suspect the same is true of Portugal/Brazil (not sure where this vid is from)
I agree with you on all the other points.

Is it not some form of pentathlon? I've seen similar riding, over a decent course, doing the pentathlon. The competitors aren't riders, they are just given very good, safe, honest horses and have to make the best they can of it.

The guy looks and rides like an athlete, not a rider, and to be fair does a bloody good job of staying on. Poor horses though

what a crap rider he is the horse didnt even throw him out of balance for that to happen it was as straight to the fence as can be ban him hes crap
mad.gif

I thought it was pentathlon also but I've been told this is from the young horse champs, so horse is a 4/5 yr old. I think its simply nearly jumping him off every time it jumps, If you freeze frame the horse over fence and ignore the rider the horse throws a very correct shape, but its quite extravagant, and prob he's not used to it so finding it very hard to sit to and not a very good jockey over a slightly bigger track. The horse gives everything some serious air, so i would presume this is the case. I only think this cause i've had a horse that jumps like that and till your very at one with it and used to it, its very easy to feel like your getting jumped off! My guess would be he hasn't ridden it before and is just starting out taking rides for people and prob thinks he's better than he is!

My OH thinks riding is easy and that he could easily jump hickstead on my 14.2!!!

haha my OH is complete novice..........

this is exactly how i imagined it to look!!

poor horse!

QR

I was thinking that when he was waiting for the jump to be rebuilt "at least he didn't hit the horse for the rider's error". Thought too soon! Not only can blatantly not ride (poor horse) but whalloped it long after the mistake so it got a beating for no reason. I think it's been hit repeatedly as it didn't half look worried when it stopped
frown.gif

Surely the rider's balls must be in agony each time he lands - why is that not an incentive for him to learn to ride?!

Disclaimer - I never refer to horses as "its" if I know what gender they are!!

This is really weird!!!

Having watched it a couple of times I think the horse is really balanced and makes a good shape over the fence. If you see the rider at any time other than over the fence he is also very secure, lower leg in place, can ride and jump without stirrups and when he is doing the weird stuff over the fence his hands are soft and the reins forward.

Having been truly overjumped like this (one fence and by mistake!!!!!), you don't really look anything like this and you don't recover like he does. A rider who was that crappy would be off after a jump or two. He seems to be throwing himself forward just at the jump to use the horse's momentum to throw him in the air, but his landing is relatively controlled which is why he stays in the saddle.

Still very weird stuff, the judge should have stopped him and absolutely no excuse for smacking that poor horse.

i think he looks way too balanced between the fences to be such a novice. he gets his stirrups back so quickly and doesnt look flustered without them. deffo a stunt man.

As others have said he looks like a balanced rider in between the fences but OMFG talk about an unusal jumping style!
Poor horse
frown.gif

I hope the rider has no balls left after that.

There's something going on there, not sure what because I didn't care to watch it all, he's lolloping the horse at the jumps - yet the horse seems to be doing everything right and I agree he's very secure...?

Even if it is a stunt, he has no right to put that poor horse through it, if he wants to look like an idiot he should do it on his own!

Lovely horse, lets rescue it!

Im sure if a lady rider did the same it would be fairly Painful so for a bloke it should be paralysing.....and he didnt fal off!!!

Im shocked, but what a horse, fantastic!! he was so honest, although Im glad he stopped at that fence ...think that could have been a worse 'incident' if he hadnt

I'm going to sell my car to rescue him, poor luv

I think he is self taught, got loads of money and buys a horse that he just has to point at the fence.
Outrageous

I wondered if he was putting on an act for some insane cruel reason
mad.gif

What a honest little horse who definatley deserves to come and live with me
grin.gif
I'll go halves with you towerhamlets!

Wow I thought my jumping was bad
crazy.gif
shocked.gif

It is insane how secure and balanced he is in between the fences and he looks like he would have a decent and secure position over the fences if he wasn't being a t*t and doing whatever he is doing to make himself come out of the saddle.
I wouldn't have said he was a novice at all but cannot get my head around why he was jumping like that. The horse is an utter superstar!

[ QUOTE ]
But if you watch carefully apart from time he lands infront of saddle he never actually slams onto the horses back it all seems too controlled on landing

[/ QUOTE ]

It's wierd - he almost looks like he's been to the Kevin Bacon school of showjumping (for you young things, Kevin Bacon was a TOP Australian rider who always left the saddle over a big fence, but came back in for landing (although FAR more lightly and delicately than THAT rider!!) Literally it meant there was NO weight on the horse's back over a big fence - and his knees gripped back onto the saddle so his a*se didn't land on the horse's back. Some of the young riders of my day copied it - Jeff McVean was an elegant example of the art - although when he came to England in the '70's he DID try to train himself out of that style.

But that chap looks plain incompetent - although with natural balance that saves him. I doubt if it saved his delicate bits though!
grin.gif

Brave, bold horse deserves much better!

God loves a tryer and all.

Very strange, I don't think the bloke has even got a good seat in canter let alone his jumping etc, if its not a stunt I'd just call it very lucky.

Lovely horse though.

Surely its a stunt horse and rider? I think if the rider wasnt a stunt one they wouldve defo come off when the horse refused. Something about the way they sat at the beginning- slighly forward- reminded me of stunt riders in films like Indiana Jones! To me they look like a partnership-rider not yanking on horses mouth, horse not bucking, rearing in protest OR the horse is the most honest one iv ever seen with a back made of steel!

Why oh why would you put yourself through that??! It must be so painful and scary for rider as well as horse, nearly coming off and losing stirrups at every jump and thudding down.

Poor poor horse though, really really should have been stopped for the poor horses sake. I had to turn it off when he crashed the poor thing into that jump, and horse tried sooo hard to go for it anyway, then got a smack?!!

What an honest horse, hopefully someone will see his potential and rescue him.

would i got from looking at video was at takeoff point the rider throws weight forward and lower legs go back so he's tipped onto front of saddle which when horse jumped propelled him up into air,
so instead of lifting out of saddle with legs hes just tipping forward onto it etc

thats what i think but im no expert.

i love the horse though, if that had been my mare he would be on the floor by 2nd jump
