My wonderful PRE has been semi-retired for a year now. On Thursday, we got a message saying that they needed a horse for a para-dressage rider to compete in the National Championships during the weekend as the rider's current horse went berserk at the competition venue. The test was to be entirely in walk. So I decided to lend the poor rider my boy and we literally took him from the field in all his hairy glory, put a saddle and bridle on and off he went.
The rider has cerebral palsy and is 99% disabled. He cannot control his hands or legs and is thus constantly giving conflicting aids and signals. IMO not many horses could have coped without any previous experience. No problem for my amazing boy! After only one practice session on Friday and unfazed by anything, today my boy with the biggest heart only went and won the class with 65% :)
I am so, so proud of him, just look at the concentration on his little face and at his rider's happiness ..
