This is appauling....

Yet again the inhumanity of man takes hold:(

If I'd had a gun there I'd have shot them myself, poor things, how anyone can stand by and watch animals suffer like that I don't know.

No other way to describe bar appalling.

Here's the thing. Banning slaughter in America did this. Sorry not banning, pulling inspectors meaning no sale of meat. So while the anti's were clapping, double decker trailer loads of horses made their way to Canada and Mexico. Even before that it was a feed lot system of keeping horses until sent off to slaughter. Not like over here in which you make an appt.

I'm not going to dispute the slaughter issue. Despite the fact that Ireland and the UK have this option, horses are still found in horrible neglected states at the hands of owners. What you see here is horses sold at sales, sent to a feed lot, turned back at the border, dumped in pens to die a slow agonising death. It's not fair for any horse to end up like this no matter what country it's in.

terrible the auction and transport to slaughter situation in the US Should shame them as a nation .
However don't think it does not happen here I have seen dead horses in pens with live ones in the UK.

How on earth is this allowed to be happening, and in America? Disgraceful. :( :(

Powerful organisations like PETA and SHARK brainwashing the ignorant masses, and by ignorant I mean the percentage of the general public who know nothing about horses or their welfare who see only the propaganda which is heavily edited in their favour. PETA doesn't give a hoot about animals incidentally, anything they rescue is destroyed not rehomed, and I have that directly from an ex-PETA member who did more than just pay her subscription.

I believe that those that voted to stop the horse slaughter genuinely thought they were doing what was best for the horses, they gave no thought, and were not informed, of the consequences.

What happens in America is the result of not having a sensible system in place to dispose of them at home it's a disgrace .

QUOTE]

Quote from the comments from the link:

"Being an American, I beg you: PLEASE don't think we are ALL LIKE THIS. The Animal Welfare fight in this country is HOT and ongoing, and it doesn't help that organizations like PETA and HSUS muddy the issue by saying one thing (save the animals!) and doing the OPPOSITE (euthenize ALL the animals!). I belong to an online organization that has rehomed dozens of hapless horses, ponies and donkies IN THE PAST YEAR through private donations, and donation of time and trailers across the United States. The fight for the welfare of ALL animals is alive and well here in America. Don't let the actions of the relative few soulless monsters who allow such attrosities to blind you to the MILLIONS of U.S. citizens who are active in the rescue, rehab, and rehoming of God's 'Other' Blessed Children. I am MOM to 3 rescue dogs, 6 rescue cats, actively belong to 3 Equid rescues, and I stand with a multitude of like-minded individuals in the horse community."

I thought it was in MEXICO? Disgusting anyhow!!

Well yes. But it would have to be because some wallies in the US thought banning horse slaughter was the correct thing to do. So now, every horse that would have been destined for slaughter in America has to be dragged all the way to Mexico to be dispatched. Genius  So you end up with horses in a horrible, sorry state, being dragged thousands of miles and ending up in an even more horrible, sorry state.

I believe the legislation is being changed though to allow horse slaughter in the USA again ?though which will hopefully help improve the situation a bit.

And for the record, live export is completely unnecessary and I for one would like to see it banned in all countries, including the UK. And I mean for all animals, not just horses!
