This is just awful. Does anybody recognise this dog?

I wonder why they didn't simply tie her up somewhere, or just dump her in a remote spot. They went to great lengths really to dispose of her. Was this to get their kicks or were they hiding something?
Plenty get tied up or dumped in remote spots, how is it any better? They just starve to death and still spend their last moments in fear and panic.

Sadly animal cruelty in this country is not a rare occurrence but drowning seems a particularly horrible way to die.

My own sweet Chloe was found abandoned so emaciated she couldn't stand. After some time at the vets and a short time in foster she came to me to complete her recovery. Somebody must have planned to work her (lurcher) as she had had her dew claws removed in preparation. She went on to live a long and happy life until I had to PTS 2 years ago due to cancer.

I hope Bella too can find a home where she will be loved and care for.

i cant believe what some people will do. hope this poor dog pulls through and gets a loving home.....i watched the dog rescuers last night and there was cctv of a youth hitting a staffy while him and his girlfriend were in the lift, there seemed to be no reason and the dog was taken from them and he was prosecuted, they then got a mastiff type who was about 6 months old and he was caught abusing that as well, rspca took that one....both dogs were ultra friendly even though they had been badly treated, they are such forgiving animals and dont deserve that treatment....

To kill an animal by drowning seems to be a particular cruel & sadistic way to do it. I’m sure I will be enlightened to alternative sadistic ways but please don’t enlighten me, I don’t want to know.

I don’t know, but dumping them sits easier with me, too. I think although abandoning a dog is an utterly unforgivable thing for anyone to do, you’re not inflicting pain on it. Yes, it will be alone and panicked and it could run into all kinds of danger but it seems far less savage than tying a rock around its neck and throwing in a river which is notorious for its undercurrents and deep dangerous course.

I do feel happy that she’s away from those monsters but I just can’t believe that anyone can be as cold as to do this.

Something doesn’t quite add up about this sad case .....it looks a bit like she tried to drown her dog with other people around. If you actually wanted to drown a dog and get away with it I would imagine you’d do it at night. I can’t help but think something else is going on although I do feel very sorry for the poor dog especially as she looks a fair age ....

I remember a horrible video from a few years ago, a young woman throwing very young puppies into a very fast flowing river, she got someone to film her and posted it on YouTube. There was a big movement to find her, but there weren’t enough clues. Some people aren’t right in the head.

For a real shocker, the OH and I watched ‘Don’t eff with Cats’, Netflix documentary about the bloke who suffocated kittens and eventually filmed himself killing a Chinese student. A very strong internet campaign was set up to find him.

i think we ought to have much more attention paid to animal cruelty as it so often leads to similar being carried out on children as they are also helpless. we need very strong punishments IMO...and some sort of councelling to try and change their mindset///

Omg. This saddens me to the core.

Sometimes I joke that I'd rather work with animals than people, but I would be an emotional wreck.... There's plenty of human I wouldn't mind tying a rock too, her owner joining the list of many.

This is heartbreaking. What a cruel way to kill a dog. There was a wee dog drowned in a Loch back home at Christmas, glad this girl had a luckier escape.

I followed this heartbreaking case on FB. There seems to be some speculation as to whether this poor girl is Bella the GSD (and she does look more longcoat German shepherd to me than Belgian shepherd as is being reported) that went missing back in 2011. https://doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=27693
Apparently the bitch in the river's microchip was registered in 2010 so it may be her or just a coincidence, the RSPCA are investigating this as well as the circumstances behind these monsters trying to drown her.
It is just beyond my comprehension that someone (and a woman seems to make it even worse) could be so cold and cruel. Dumping an animal is bad enough but to purposefully try to drown an old dog .... makes me dreadfully sad as well as incredibly angry. Just so glad the lady who saved her turned up in the nick of time.

This along with the aus posts are what pushed me over the emotional edge this week. I did have a good ole cry of despair at the state of things. Her poor eyes are haunting. I just hope we can get a good update. Little skinny tiggy is keeping me afloat at the moment!
