This is possibly the most disgusting thing I have seen

This happened just up the road from us . . . and there's a suspicion that the lads who fled the scene to a nearby town (Yateley) were well-known members of a certain travelling community (a particular travelling family is very well-known and powerful in this area, owns several businesses and family members can be seen out with their trotters on the local roads).

It's very, very sad but I think that if this particular family is involved, local police may well look the other way.

And we wonder why this country is going to the dogs - if the police are "scared" send the dammed army in!!!!!:mad::mad:

I agree - I suppose there would be too much paperwork. It is truly heartbreaking, I felt sick when I saw the pics, I've got a piebald and that poor pony looked like her laid dead. I do believe very strongly in karma though and whoever did it will get their come uppence one way or another

I'm so glad some of the others on this forum are getting sick of the racism on threads like this!!

Yes, Gypsies are damn humans!!! A couple of weeks ago I had gypsies invite me into their homes, let me eat their food, stay in their homes over night... FFS, they're not demons! (And even Shils wouldn't drive a cob into a lake... actually, on second thoughts...)

But, as previously noted, Romani would never hurt a horse. I'd trust my horse with the gypsies I know before I'd trust anyone else on this forum.

These were a scummy gang of scumbag cowards who thought it would be funny to cause an animal harm. They could be black, white, green, pink, settled or travellers and it doesn't change the fact they're scum!!!!
In fact, by the sounds of it, they're settled. So all the comments about gypsies (which show ignorance to the extreme) are rubbish!

Alright, calm down I apologised, I made a mistake - I was very angry at the time. I didn't MEAN to be racist.

I was very out of turn for saying that and have since said sorry.

It wasn't entirely aimed at you (usually someone would have posted "oh, where is Serenity, she usually defends these sorts of people" - which is not true!)

But I know some lovely Romani and nothing upsets me more than reading about how my friends must be scum because they happen to have the same lifestyle as the people mentioned in the article.

I will never, so long as I breath, defend the sort of person in the article. And, tbh, most the gypsies I know wouldn't tolerate that sort of behaviour either!!

Think you have the wrong family! The ones who drowned that pony cant afford a decent car let alone a business, and the ponies are rough bred scrub ponies....not quite "trotters".

I hope you are right - I've met some nice gypsies too so i don't really know why I said that... well I do, I was most upset. having said that... I lived in WSM and saw how the gypsies there treated thier ponies so I was also venting some long rooted anger.

I still think the "scum" that did this should be treated like the animals they are though... I just chose the wrong words to express how I felt.

Fair enough - this story is horrific.

I haven't even read the whole thing, apparently there are pictures - they would seriously scar me :( I have a little piebald gypsy cob.

This is horific. Just thank the lord there are some decent humans as for the one who tried to save it. However im sure i heard that the people involved where cleared and it was just a "freak accident" not sure how that is possible hhhhmmmmmm x
