... that I get off my bum and actually ride. Who's with me?

For too long have I been lazy and disorganised, resulting in two unworked and wasted horses (not that they'd complain about it). I've decided that this spring is the time that I get my arse in gear and get riding.

So, I hereby take a vow to stop being a lazy bint and get riding more than I've ever ridden before.* Anybody else feel they need to do the same?

*Except when it's raining. :p

Good for you, you know the one once you start to ride you will wonder why you did not bother before, I would love to ride more but have to always reply on others to help me which is rather frustrating, so perhaps I will have to kick them up the bum to ride more this year, which then means I can ride more. Good luck with it.

Arizahn - hope he can drive again soon.

Ebony - thanks! I am sort of reliant on others too and have people who would help but I don't like to ask. Good luck to you getting others to help. :) My horse will not hack alone and my mother's horse is limited to walk at the moment (and mum is usually too busy to ride and only fancies it in fair weather).

My new plan is to ride my mum's horse out alone several times a week because I know he'll go on his own when we're back into it. I love my horse but she'll have to just be ridden when other people are free to come with me.

I'm with you :D

I even rode tonight for good measure :)

High 5!

I've even booked a week off in April to spend time sorting out everything horsey... stables (used as field shelters) need a good cobweb removal, tack is way overdue a clean, shed needs clearing out and so forth. Having everything clean and ready to go will hopefully encourage me even more. :)

Every year I aim to achieve more than ever before... Even if I only achieve half of what I've planned, at least I've achieved something new :D

Lol, he hasn't been able to drive for almost two weeks now! He is getting very bored on boxrest and missing his car. We are off to the big Tesco tomorrow though, so hopefully he will be able to manage without his back, leg, hip, or kidney giving out along the way...if he were a horse, he would be uninsurable!

That certainly doesn't sound like fun, bless him! Hope he makes it around the store in one piece!

If you have booked a week off in April, that's plenty of time to ride your horse first THEN do the things you have listed. May sound harsh, but it sounds as though you are putting more obstacles in your way, rather than just getting on your horse and riding
Does riding your horse really depend on cleaning out your shed?

Sorry I didn't explain that very well. I didn't mean that I won't be riding until after that week, that's just something I added in as an extra thing to do.

I can't just get on and go at the minute as I think my mum's horse needs to go out in company again a little more before going out alone. So am relying on other people to join me for the next few weeks, then I hope to try it alone and if that goes OK I'll be able to ride whenever I like. :-)

ETA: Obviously I'd prefer to ride my horse, not hers, but I will always be relying on someone joining me for that. I plan to be more proactive about asking people to ride with me. Think I'll ask my cousin today when she wants to ride!
