Well I posted last night on here about a little dales x pony that I wanted to go and see. I phoned up today and she had been sold just two days after being advertised......typical!
So tomorrow I'm going to see this. What do you think? She's a connie x tb and I want a project over winter as my other mare is out of work and living the easy life......I spoke to the lady she is with at the moment who has broken her and she said that she has been exceptionally easy to do. She said that her only issue is that her trot is very choppy at the moment...hopefully that's something I could work on. What d'you think of her?

Looks promising, and trot is supposed to be the easiest pace to improve :) If only she would stay that colour though!

Hope you got my pm, didn't realise you were considering a pony but the farm also has a herd of ponies - mostly welshies I think :)

Hi Rhino - I just read your PM thanks. I wasn't considering a pony until I realised that as I already have one stresshead of a TB, it might be nice to have some time closer to the ground, especially with one that is green. However if nothing comes of it tomorrow, I'll give them a call. Thank you so much.

Although they aren't great photos she looks like a nice little mare. ConniexTB is a happy cross I think :)

Rhino, have you been to look at any of the horses yet? You know you want to! I know I want to. Wish I had space for another. I love youngsters.

I haven't. I'm still sat here with the phone number in front of me. The thing is, I know if I do go I won't be able to leave without something, and it isn't quite the right time for me to be buying; horse on box rest/intensive rehab is taking up all my free time at the moment :(

There is always time for another. You think there won't be but there will. I didn't have time for two, I was adamant, but we get by ok. Even when Nits was being extremely high maintenance this summer I squeezed them both in! Especially if you get a youngster. You could easily chuck it out to grass for the winter :)

Shame about the DalesX as it sounded very genuine and looked nice. ConXtbs are fab though so you can't go too far wrong with that cross. Good luck and if you buy her make sure to get some decent photos of her because those sales photos are dire!

Yes I know, they aren't the best are they? LOL!! However the lady I spoke to sounds very genuine - told me about the choppy trot and that she hasn't done much hacking and when she does she neighs a lot (not dissimilar to when I started hacking my TB mare out), but she's young, so there's plenty of time for her to settle down. She certainly won't be rushed to do anything, the speed I go at!

You're probably right. I'm still at the stage of resenting the fact I will never ride the ginger one again... Not sure I'm ready to be honest :( Plus I can ride any/all of the project horses at my yard if I want (really lovely YO). Just don't know what to do

She's beautiful, I know a few tbxcons and everyone (touch wood) has been sane and sweet.

She seems a lovely little thing and a fairly blank canvas for you to work with.

Hope the viewing goes well tomorrow.
I have decided I need a lottery win as have seen a few nice mares this week and they are much pricier then my current budget allows!
Good luck tomorrow, she does look and sound promising.

Hope your doing ok? I cannot believe it is 4weeks ago tonight, it feels like a very long time ago already x

I hadn't realised you couldn't ride the old boy any more :( Is he retiring?

Hopefully he will be able to live out a happy retirement. He came in from the field a few weeks ago with a slightly swollen leg - looked very like a check ligament injury. Vet agreed but when he scanned we realised the sdft was horrifically damaged (typically, ginger beastie wasn't even lame). He's 20 so prognosis not great, but I am happy if he can just be a pet.

5 weeks plus into box rest/cold hose/equissage now; fingers crossed he will be able to have some turnout soon. He was my first horse and a present from my dad when I was having a bit of a difficult time so has huge sentimental value :o :)

O poops. I am behind because I still thought it was just a check ligament. Fingers crossed for you both.

I dont think you can go wrong with that cross HH. You can improve it and have a super pony that will be saleable! If you choose to. PLEASE let us know how you get on, and take a few pics. Good luck! You might be able to box over to me and we can hack out like we talked about. :D

Oh yes that would be good. I just have a horrible feeling I might be too big for her.. but it is going to depend on what I feel like if I sit on her. I think you just know when you're too big for one.....I've been riding a 15hh full connie recently and I am fine on him, so hopefully I'll be ok on this one....if not, then I'll keep looking.
