I am fostering for scruples whippet rescue, while waiting for my pup to be old enough to come home. So far i have had a lovely lurcher dog, and a gorgeous whippet dog. and then i got Kate!! Kate was supposedly a whippet, but when she arrived at rescue she is clearly a lurcher, i suspect a bullx whippet. she is about 24 inches and a lovely black brindle colour. She is so loving, desperately wants to please in the house, and is so good natured but................ she has today excelled herself. I left her and flodden in the house together for half an hour. Came back to a note from my neighbour saying she had put the dogs back in the house twice as they were playing on the road outside. Kate has managed to work out how to use a yale lock and a seperate handle. I knew she understood how door handles work, as I have seen her do door handles inside. The front door opens inwards so manageing to open that and pull it towards her is amazing, but the yale was on. I know cos I double checked it when i left. So she is managing to turn the yale and push the door handle and open the door inwards! How the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful..reminds me of the story about the Greyhound in the rescue home which used to get out of it's pen every night and then release all the other dogs as well. They had to install a camera to find out how it was happening. Perhaps you could do the same. :)

Bless her, they're wonderful dogs but I guess it's a bit of worry that she can let herself out of a locked door!!!! It would be magic to watch if you can get her filmed.
