Possibly being ridden by a complete novice? I don't personally like teaching people with neckstraps but some folk do use them for real beginners as a just in case

Bearing in mind it's in a three ring gag with the rein on the bottom perhaps it goes like the wind & you need the neck strap to stop you flying off backwards !!

UM, Beau was on the last ring for a while doing XC as he would NOT stop - and I would never have said he was for a novice, or anyone with a faint heart.

It does seem like a contradiction to have all that junk on it then say its super safe.

BUT, then it does say it hunts - and I am guessing that the junk is for that situation?

I'm an experienced rider and I always hack out with a neck strap or hunting breastplate,especially when riding youngsters, absolutely nothing wrong with that. I however wouldn't like to comment on this particular horse.

This horse has a neck strap and a martingle though.

Surely the martingle would be good enough on its own?

neck straps are thicker and easier to hold onto, if hunting far better than martingale. Just as it is on the bottom ring doesnt mean its a nutter. One of mine has a pelham for fast work but doesnt mean he wont stop!! Just makes it easier!

Quite poss the photo was taken out hunting or XC - and it is VERY sensible to use a neck strap in both circumstances. Martingale straps are a lot thinner and not so easy to grab hold of. Certainly isn't an ad that would make me laugh
