Should I have a will written up?

The 'what would happen to your horses if you died?' thread got me thinking as everyone was saying 'in my will I've arranged...'. But I don't have a will, nor have I officially arranged what would happen to my animals.

I'm only 19 and still living at home with my parents. I have 3 horses which I am the sole carer and provider for. I like to think would go to a family friends' yard if anything happened to me as none of my family are horsey. At home I have a rabbit and a cat of my own. I'm 99.9% sure my parents would keep them there as they're no problem. But should I have legal arrangements done just in case something did happen to me? Or is it more a case of just making sure I have my wishes written down somewhere?

It's worth talking with your parents about it- and the family friend- so they know and are happy with what you want. Wills cost money but tbh I cant imagine there are many occasions where people go "oh why did they write a will" and plenty more of the opposite...

Not a stupid question at all. Accidents happen. You can buy a will form from a stationor (sp) or you could years ago and write what you want to happen. Talking to family is a good idea.

I have written down what I want to happen to my horse and spoken to my OH, in case of the worst thing happening.

I think you are being very mature.
