As you all know I am the owner of a lovely 11hh dartmoor hill pony. I am 5ft 10/11 and weigh 9 stone. If I decided to try and break Missy in over the winter do you think i'd be too heavy for her? I am aware that I am far too tall but it would just be a max of 10 minutes a time. However I do not want to risk hurting her in anyway. I think I know the answer but thought i'd check, am I too heavy for her?

I don't generally believe in too tall, but I can't imagine how you could sit on an 11hher at your height and not need rollerskates, to be honest :o

congratulations on the new purchase, though

In my opinion I think you are too heavy for her. I have seen the pics and she really does look like a wee one! To start her I would say that nine is too heavy.

This is a good point :p
Thank you :D

I may just have to find her a jockey (and crash test dummy) :D

No, no. Don't take my word for it. Have a google at Emma Thompson Ponies - she is just around the corner from me, is tall and breaks in wee ones. There will be some great advice to come here, but it would be worth having a chat with her. She is on Facebook too. I will message her now :)
