Just been browsing the various horse for sale websites, and then preloved..

Found an advert for a 'rescued' mare.
14.2hh, 15years. Welsh D type, never been handled etc..

Owner claims to have rescued her heavily in foal 2011, she had her foal, foal was weaned and sold...

Instead of possibly trying to handle, or do any sort of training with the mare, it seems they popped her back in foal again, and she had another foal! (Which they say they are keeping.)

And.. to add, she is 'possibly' infoal to a stallion again...

Great rescue.....

Makes you sick doesn't it. There's a woman near here who 'rescues' all the mares she can find and puts them in foal to a very dodgy Trakhener stallion. They are never touched, never handled, wounds not treated and if they come with shoes on then they stay on until they fall off. RSPCA don't want to know as they have water and a bale of hay a day (between 40 mares!!) We have some terrible pipctures of some of them, hardly able to support themselves, let alone a foal.

Forward your info to the BHS or try WHW, they are sometimes better at working with owners to improve conditions as their welfare officers have specific equine knowledge.
