a few of you are aware that I have major problems with my neighbours - we havent spoken at all since August. Well i got a very strange phonecall off one of them this morning to say that they had had an attempted breakin and that there was loads of water on my yard.

So I ring my dad to go check it out as im at work. he gets there roughly the same time as my mum and finds that someone has hacksawed through my water pipe, my youngster is hiding in the stable to get away from the water feature that now stands in my field.

Then upon further looking, the tosspot has taken bolt cutters to my tackroom lock, have gone in and stolen all my bridles, draw reins, martinglaes - pretty much everything that was hung up with my bridles, and thats it!

Then weve found that theyve spray painted grafiti all over my trailer and slashed 3 of the tyres

interestingly enough my neighbours didnt see the damage to the trailer nor the tack room door open :

cheers Puppy. the police have been absolutely fantastic over things that have been going off since August. my local police station has a fantastic copper who is in charge of the Equine Watch so shes been fab - am assuming it will be her and he colleague that turn up to visit us
i sometimes feel though that im wasting their time making calls to report abuse/harrassment/theft etc, but certainly didnt feel like it today when we made the call

its at times like this i wish id gone and done another late night check last night. i didnt sleep well at all and mum had a gut feeling that something was going to happen.
why is it you seem to have a 6th sense when something awfuls going to happen?

Can you get some CCTV up there? I know its expensive but if things have gone this far then it might at least help deter them.

Big Hugs!!!

Insist that Plod take fingerprints where they can - and try to find the paint spray can/s. Put adverts everywhere re: your tack. Some newspapers are quite amenable about listing FOC re: cases of theft such as this. Or ask one of the Reporters to write an article.
Also, alert the Auctioneers at Holmfirth (and other places) to the fact that you have been burglarised and ask if you can view sale items beforehand.

cheers MrWoof - were back off to the yard in a little while to check the rest of the field etc (for stuff we missed at the initial shock)
we couldnt see/havent seen any signs of any the spray paint cans. I dont know if the police might not be able to get any finger prints because of the weather but they have gone into one of my wardrobes so they might be some fingerprints on there.
ill start finding the local auctioneers numbers and give them a ring round to make them aware.
thanks about the idea of free listings - ill check into that, local papers might help me out.

totally right RW, something I could do without.
no dont think the neighbours have at all, saying that though they do spout regular attempted breakings all the time - like i say i think it all seems fishy what with the phonecall out of the blue

I expect you have been too shell-shocked to think straight but do also post this on the "Stolen ....." Forum.
I would also suggest you change the Title of your post (notwithstanding your feelings at the moment - which I can totally understand), as some people might not look at it as is, thinking it might just be a rant about something insignificant.
Ring one/many of the National Newspapers and ask them if they would be interested in writing an article.

cheers MrWoof - ill get it all written down as to what theyve taken and put a new post in the Stolen Forum.
yeah totally agree with you about the name of the post. will try and change it

really sorry to hear this you poor thing

also look on ebay for your things to pop up friend had bridles stolen and a few weeks later there they were listed on ebay!!!

oh no thats awful!!!
I hope it all gets sorted for you...
I try to keep friendly with our neighbours as don't live at my stable yard they have been a pain sometimes...but have helped me out in the past by keeping an eye on things...having said that we had a break in last year..some lovely people stole all my electric fencing, water tubs wheelbarrow and tack!!! smashed my entrance gate to pieces..terrified my weanlings in the process... but my neighbour who has a sercurity camera focused on part of my land unfortunatly happened to be out and the sercurity camera happened to not be working that particular night!!
Feel for you really do...its not always about the damage or wat they have taken its the fact they have been near your horses and terrified them in the process!!!

what an awful experience for you anr eyour weanlings colormore. Lukily al my horses are unharmed - even my youngster is okay after being realised from the stable when the water was turned off - bless her shes such a sensitive soul.

my direct neighbours wouldnt help anybody out! they are only out for themselves. unfortunately the neighbours that live accross ( i get on really well with) the road from my yard are on holiday and obviously didnt see anything but shes going to check her CCTV when they get home.

Daisy - I have just read this and am appalled at what has happened

- I hope the Police come and something can be done. A total pain about all your stuff getting nicked though - let me know what size bridles you need as I have a couple of spare ones and spare reins that you are welcome to have if it helps you out in the short term.
