So it is now a year since I bought Vardi in that time I have sat on him.....once.... and that was on the lunge at walk (and that was only for the Saddle Fitter).
By the time my broken shoulder, fractured hip and all the other ailments were mended (Accident with Lunatic loan horse in September 2008), and he had had his intital backing and we were both fit enough to go for a summer of work and hacking out he managed to get cast and had 3 months standing in a field growing his skin back and getting his leg sorted, with all the timing of a true genius he injured himself 3 days after I had had the brand new properly fitted saddle delivered, invested in 4 new pairs of breeches and bought a new hat as my last was written off along with me!
He has been back in work for a month now, lots of long reining and walking for miles and miles in the countryside . Astrid has hopped up in the school and declared him as "doing well, still remembers all the aids and standing still to be mounted" and has declared this Saturday as my turn.
Gulp.....I had sort of got used to him as a non riding groundwork and country walk pet I think it has been so long since I had any expectation of riding him that I have actually stopped bothering about it and just enjoy doing "stuff" with him.
So on Saturday I will find myself sitting astride my 4.5 year old for my first proper ride following my broken bones and head injury and Vardi's accident. Sort of two crocks together.
In the words of my Stepson "Cheesy Peeps" I may need some vibes and yes I have already bought the Rescue Remedy ....I suppose it is far too late to ask for a refund if I sit on him and say after 5 mins "I don't like it I want the other one"
