What did everyone else think?

I think it was better than last year, and they went seriousley back to basics with explaining the 7 games wich i think was good for anyone new to parelli.

Your thoughtss?
x

Lordy one of the women from our yard went.
Did they cover the "Art of lunging a dog lame horse" and "How parelli negates the need to call the vet" followed I hope by "the 7 games of ignore the advice of anyone who disagrees with you that brushing boots cure lameness".

But heh she's now a parelli expert so that makes it all ok.

there has to be only one thing that is more annoying than Parrelli......

that is a disciple banging on about it......

ahaaa

shockerrrr parelli bashing :O

im no disciple in a kid im allowed to be pashionate about something,

also Hovis_and_Sidsmum what the hell are u on about?

I dont see at all why XC riders and Happy Hackers can post about things they enjoy when i cant when its what i enjoy,
before anyone sais "because parelli people dont ride so its boring"

then your talkin out your A$$
smile.gif
cause we do ride and we dont only do boring stuff,

when i turn up at a XC course and compete in a rope halter, thats pretty exhilirating
smile.gif
and yea thats on either an arab who was labeled as "untrainable" when i got her :0

im proud

What hell I am on about is a specific example of a recent parelli convert who is so tied up in waving orange sticks at her horse she can't seem to understand the poor thing needs a vet, is dog lame and completely unrideable. She has been so brain washed by the whole thing that no one can talk any sense into her and the horse is suffering.

I have not said parelli people can't ride etc etc so please don't chuck that in my direction. There is a woman I know who does parelli and is a marvelous rider. So please can you refrain from pushing your issues into my mouth.

What I would say though is it is one hell of a marketing machine that is no subsitute for common sense and a more rounded appraoch to horses - not least seeking advice from those who know better. Something the woman on our yard could do with doing.

Are you really allowed to do that? I though you had to have a bit in the horses mouth when you went cross country.....

Depends where it is and who its organised by.
I've been turned away at some courses in which case i just go grab my bridle but sometimes they allow it, especially as i know the owner of a XC course

Ah, intersting. I suspect their insurance would be totally invalidated if you had an accident - so I would be very cautious about doing that in future.....

I dunno AmyMay - it's perfectly acceptable to go XC BE in a hackamore....so it might be ok?

Although a Hackamore is a little different to a string halter!

Here here! Thats half my problem with paralli, no-one seems to do it by halves, the NH/IH people GENERALLY listen more and cherry pick what works for an individual horse. I've just read Monty Roberts "The horses in my life" and although there is a fair amount of sap he's very realistic and goes through the most influensial horses he's worked and how he's adapted his methods to each one and done some thing entirely differently. On another note, did you know he owned Alleged!? He backed him before he went off to training. Anyway if the leader of a "system" can do it...

I've also yet to see a paralli horse without a ewe neck from throwing their heads about while a bloody stick is waved in its face.

Have to disagree and one of the reasons I don't join in the Parelli posts usually is because this is exactly what I am - a person who does some of the parelli stuff (well in fact just 3 things that get my horse moving away from pressure on the ground) and yet I know as soon as I admit to doing anything at all I'd be cast as this awful person who spends all day on pedestals, bouncing balls or making my horse headshy by wacking it with an orange stick. I also have read books recently by other NH people - I find the whole subject very interesting and would take bits of advice/info from lots of places. Yet I go once a week to a very old school riding school where we are taught the basics, do no Parelli whatsoever and do not ride around in string halters. You may have noticed my recent post about said riding school closing down and my interest in going to the YRC - I'm quite sure Chris Bartle will be doing no Parelli

I don't think you can see from the pic in my gallery post but I am carrying a normal whip and do use it to back up my leg (behind my leg in case I get accused of head bashing) if required. Please do not tar us all with the same brush just because we have expressed some interest in Parelli.

The thing that gets me is alot of the Parelli is just good old fasioned common sense, If my boy wont be caught yes I make him trot round me till he asks if he can stop, I do stick work in hand (with a schooling whip) but am not a pirelli follower.

Its the whole band waggon that makes (the parelli club) look at you like you are an animal abuser because you use a bit and leather head collar, thank the lord there are sensible people like you WeeBrown

I think it's a load of nonsense, but if we can have 30-odd threads asking the same bloody questions about the olympics I don't see why the nutters can't have their own thread to discuss between themselves without a pile-up happening yet again.

Well bugger me - preferably without a with a carrot stick.

I haven't had a pm for ages though...quick, someone report me!

The man in Kwick fit thought I was a nutter today. I said I was happy to have any tyre other than a parelli tyre and was chuckling away to myself for not being very funny.

Tisk tisk JM07! After thinking you had redeemed yourself by pointing out the naughty use of the "N" word, you then had to ruin it.
I know its your birthday but the use of the words "that crap" and "bugger off" may be viewed by some as offensive.
Perhaps try
"there are complete forums dedicated to this alternative training method and like the parellis themselves most of them take credit cards.

why don't they take the small amount of money they have left after re-mortgaging the house to procure an orange stick, rope headcollar and all 350 DVDs and go and converse with other like minded converts" ...................
