It's a lovely picture and I really admire the dedication and expertise it takes to get to the top.
Do appreciate that! And I do think the pain of getting them out there while they have no idea what’s happening can’t be nice for them.Well, an adult human can consent to becoming a professional athlete. Children and animals can’t.
(Don’t get me started on the minimum age at the Olympics …..)
Absolutely a valid point and one I’m torn on. I do believe horses can truly love what they are asked of, so I’m conflicted.Do appreciate that! And I do think the pain of getting them out there while they have no idea what’s happening can’t be nice for them.
But equally you could apply that same sentiment then to the entire sport? (I’m not saying we shouldn’t but is the entire sport unethical by that logic? Kind of just playing devil’s advocate here!)
It's Glamourdale - he constantly looks pissed off/on edge which doesn't help imho
I've never seen this horse competing in the flesh, but wasn't there just an entire thread very recently about how perennially tense he was? Some horses, like people, are just naturally highly strung, neurotic and on edge. For me the question would be why someone decided to try and train this particular horse for the sport. Wouldn't be my first choice to aim for high level competition for sure.....It's Glamourdale - he constantly looks pissed off/on edge which doesn't help imho

And then of course there's the whole question of why judges are rewarding performances that are as unpleasant to watch as this appears to be. FWIW (and this is by no means excusing anything) the cover picture wouldn't be the worst by a very long shot.
