This would be wrong woudn't it

If no, why haven't you asked/ would you ask for a conformation critique of your horse?

Sorry for two posts in one evening - trying to take my mind off my other post...

Anyway... imagine a scenario where you have several sets of couple friends coming to stay and you HATE the OH of one of your OH male friends. She is dreadful in so many ways and has told you on the few occasions you have spoken about her advanced (unproven) riding skills back in the days when , you know the sort?

How wrong would it be to invite her for a hack out and then for me to ride my nice sensible cob and put her on my loony tunes WB before inviting her for a quick gallop across the fields.....

I think I need a poll....

I voted for option 4... and 3... and 1... Funnily enough, I know my horse'd be OK if I plan my route so option 5 doesn't come into it. Should I be thinking about my karma more here?

I voted for option 3...

you're insured right?

However much you hate her, an unlucky fall could result in dead person. Could you live with yourself, if you had knowing over horsed her?

put her on the nice quiet cob - my sister in law bragged about the dressage lessons she had, and how good she was at riding. i took her an my brother to Wales pony trekking. she was given a 14.2 to ride. She mounted and went straight over the other side. bragging stopped before we even left the yard

I agree!

Smile sweetly and say:

"it's clearly been a while since you've been on a horse, and you're obviously quite unfit *whilst looking her up and down* so you can have a little go on the nice quiet cob....would you like to go on the lead rein?!"

I did this once and she fell off, in that she said she could ride, I believed her and off she popped. One shaking horsey, no harm to him, she sort of ploped off the side, cause he can be a wimp and one injured pride

i have to say i love this idea, its great!

You've made me realize I have a split personality disorder as my mind flicked between the first four. However I must be evil because I just dismissed the last one! Just asking her to go with you would probably be enough to shut her up - all mouth, no trousers kinda thing

You can't account for all eventualities - no matter how well you know your horse, it's an animal with a mind of it's own. Also, never underestimate the inevitability of sod's law.

Satisfying, yes it would be, but there's also potential for bad feeling between you and her OH if something did go wrong.

If you insist on getting her on a horse, do it in a school where it's enclosed. Easier to watch, too.

I voted go for it, but don't forget to get someone to video it, then hand her the disc afterwards as a momento of her ride....wicked...

I am sooooooooooooo socked at this side of you HH!!!!!

But, I quite like it!

But what if she turns out to be exceptionally talented and your cob turns into a grand prix dressage horse within minutes of her being on his back?

How will it make you feel?

Have you been drinking HH? Are you an imposter?

I didn't think you'd go for that idea!

Loving the controversy - more more... HH I LIKE your thinking already!

Would I actually do it is an entirely seperate debate....
Should I want to is a better question....

<Mwah ha ha>

Imagine IF she did manage airs above the ground on my cob? Mind you, given the sad reality is I've turned her away following back and teeth probs she'd probably get them without trying if I sat her on that one anyway right now....

BUT I CAN IMAGINE can't I...

how else could we use our equine friends.... for taking over the Universe?

ETA how annoyed am I at my touch typing failure in the spelling of wouldn't in the title of this post???

ah well, in that case you again smile sweetly and make some comment about how the cob is prancing around looking all uncomfortable because she's not used to the extra weight on her back
