hi i was wondering if any of you could tell a bit about thoroghpin. i went to look at a horse and was told it had a heamorraged thoroghpin but would still be able to event up to novice (probably). would this be possible as i know thoroghpin can make a horse lame and i dont want to have huge vet bills!
thanks

Hi my tb x han mare who is now 18 has had a thorough pin on her right hind for many years, about half the size of an egg, it has got bigger over the years too but never stopped her pre novice eventing and sj - she still hunts too and is the soundest horse I've ever had! She has got a bit stiff behind in recent years but I don't think this is connected to the thorough pin, I just warm her up for longer and she's fine.
