Sorry another post from me...this horse really makes me paranoid!

Do her pasterns look really long to you?
I've never had to deal with long pasterns before, apart from what I think is the obvious no work through thick sticky mud and hard work etc, what can I do to help prevent tendon issues?
Also can I jump her with this long pastern? not massive about 2ft.
The farrier is working her feet about every 7 weeks.
She is an ex racer and doesnt have any previous tendon injury or issues (touch wood)
Sorry you cant really see on the front because of the boots

It would be easier to assess the pasterns if you posted a photo without the OR boots and the horse stood square and side on. However TB's often do have longer pasterns than many other breeds and some TB's have longer pasterns than other Tb's.

Long pasterns are good for shock absorpsion which is good for running fast and jumping - hence why you see them in TB's.

If the horse is sound, I would ride and jump her. You don't seem to be planning on taking her around the Grand National, the work you have stated that you want to do with her should be well within her abilities.

Does she pull shoes regularly? I'm just wondering why she's turned out in OR boots. It would be nice to see a photo of her without the OR boots in case her hooves are aren't balanced IE long toes, under-run heels - which would alter the breakover and make it easier for her to pull shoes, tendon problems, navicular etc...

I know must get a photo without the boots. She will pull a shoe if she doesn't wear the OR boots, she over tracks and forges. I will post another photo shortly
