Hi
I was just wondering if anyone had ever re homed a Thoroughbred from Darley Thoroughbred re-homing nr Newmarket?
I'm thinking of getting one from there and wanted to hear of other peoples experiences.
Thanks very much.

Not personally - but they are very high profile, so all should be well. Ex racers are lovely - so well done on thinking of going that route....I wish that more would!

All horses are very much individuals, but by getting one from a reputable charity such as Darly, you will be told the truth about each horse you look at, as it's in the Charity's best interest to ensure you are both suitably matched to each other, so hopefully no nasty surprises a few months down the line!

yes I have one! I was on their list for around four months before they matched me with my boy and hes perfect :). As long as you are very honest in describing your own abilities and what you want from your horse you will get a good match! they are also 100% honest about the horses too as they want the best for them

deffinately only get one from a place thats high profile, honest and with a good reputation, ex race horses are either brilliant or mad XD and the mad ones tend to be the ones stuffed under the carpet and sold cheap and dishonestly! if you go to the right place then you should do brilliantly.
totally agree with gingerthing, as long as you are honest about your own abilities you should do fine, because even if you have a good ex racer they still have their learnt habits and quirks you should be prepared for :) good luck!!

I think that if planning on taking on an ex racehorse, people have to ask themselves some serious questions about their riding ability, and possibly even the area they propose to ride in.A good racehorse will have acted and done it while the average horse is still trying to figure out which foot to pick up!

I didn't end up getting my girly from them in the end but they were lovely people, who really want to make a good match so I would say go for it. Be honest and they'll be honest with you and hopefully everything will be great. Good luck!

I have a lovely lad from Darley! He is Lyme Regis, got him last January, with very basic walk, trot, just about canter, seen a pole on the floor.......he is now BSJA british novice with ease & just started BE events!!!

Victoria is a very nice lady & be honest with her & she will be able to match you up with your perfect horse (hopefully!)

I only waited about a month & a half.......

Good Luck - any questions feel free to PM me!
