Last year bought a 5 year old thoroughbred who had been neglected. Luckily she was chipped and I was able to trace her breeding back 7 generations.

She was born in Ireland in 2004, by Goldmark (USA) out of In Grace's View (IRE), registered with wetherbys and sold at Tattersalls (IRE) at 6 month old. Here she disappears. There is no trace of her until I bought her, I would love to know as much about her as possible. If there is anyone out there in the great horse network who thinks they might know anything about her please contact me.

These photo are of the day she arrived with me and as she began to pick up, she is now in wonderful condition and almost unrecogniseable.

Thanks, still working on her, had to take her back to basics, she is still very nervous of other horses approaching at speed but at least no longer stands rifidly shaking, along way to go but slowly getting there!

Her full brother has been a useful sort though the dam showed nothing on her only start and has not been a prolific mare in producing sales youngstock. Your mare was prob bought as a foal to be held as a store in the hope that she would make the grade for the Derby or Landrover sale. She never went through the sales ring again in Ireland so either didn't make the grade/pass vet or wasn't put forward. She was prob then broken and tried but not good enough so sold on. She was 6 when you bought her though...not 5?!? As a foal she was sold to a Declan Scally but is actually listed as registered in the non tb studbook.

sorry, i can't help you with information, but would like to say well done with her, she looked a state when you got her and she does look like a different horse now!

Gosh, it's quite amazing really the change. Even her eyes look totally different - they have life in. The first picture there is just nothing there in her eyes. Very sad.

Hi Amage, thanks for the details you have, I traced her breeder and had a reply to a letter sent telling me about her full brother, Declan Scally did not reply to my request for details of her training, any problems found and possible knowledge of who she was sold on to so lost track of her from that time. Her registered name is MARY MAR and I know she is on the non tb list and would love to know where the brake was as I have not been able to find it but perhaps my research is not thorough enough, is it possible that somewhere there is a non registered relation?
I bought her 19th April 2010 and she foaled 5th May 2004 so as far as tb register is concerned I guess she was 6 I was just going by birth date!
I understand that her dam was not successful as a race horse only achieving 2 4ths and a 5th as a 6 year old.
My main interest is trying to find out what sort of training , if any she has had, Wetherbys tell me that she has not raced and I am sure that you are right about her failing a soundness test as she has a sticky stifle on the near side but as she is getting fitter this is in no way causing her any problems.
She has nasty bite marks on either side of her neck, which I would guess are stallion bites and although she is not sprung I quess she may have had pony foals.
Thank you everyone for all you help.

Her Dam only ran once ever finishing 16/29 in a bumper with the only info about her run that she was "never a factor". I would reckon she was never in TB training anyway. i'd say she was most likely a store horse somewhere and did very little and honestly I'd be very surprised if you get much more info than that. It is quite possible that there is a non reg relation or that there are half bred relations but I haven't been able to track the dam in the irish Horse Register. It may be worth giving Horse Sport Ireland a ring to see have they any register on their system. Your lady was certainly never returned in training here

Your horse also went through the Goresbridge sales in March 2007 where she was sold for 600euros to J. Phelan.

In Grace's View also ran a few times in p2p's finishing 4th twice but was beaten a long way. (Source: www.p2p.ie)

Thanks for the info.
Is there a way of searching the Goresbridge sale catalogue for March 2007 or finding out from them, as I did from Tattersalls, the address of Declan Scally who bought my girl from her breeder, a Mrs R. Ross.
This may be a further step in piecing her past together .... I am forever optomistic !
Thanks Maleman for this info, can't find a link to past catalogues on Goresbridge website!
As I said originally I am not interested in whether she had raced or not I am much more inerested the educational side.
Knowing what she has done helps in her re education.

You could try Goresbridge but don't know whether they would give out purchaser details. They don't publish their old catalogues online that I'm aware of. For what reason do you want the old catalogue? PM me if you prefer as I may know a way of getting the page for your mare.
