This is a rather random post, but I just wanted to say .. I am the proud owner of a Thoroughbred!

I have only had her for coming up three weeks and I am so happy that I have her. A little while ago I got a bit worried because I didnt feel like we "bonded" but now I am so happy that she is mine!

She wickers to me when she see's me coming, she has such a big heart and she is really starting to trust me!
When I first got her she kept pulling faces at me as she "wasnt quite sure" of what was going on, and she would "skip" when I wanted to pick her feet up/out. Now when I pick her hooves up and put it back down again the next one is up in the air waiting for me!

I have been lunging her and she is great to lunge! and I walked her out for the first time since I got her, and at first she started out all tall, and then when she walked along the road a bit she lowered her head down to me and was listening to me when I was talking to her. She couldnt of cared less when a car went past us etc the grass looked better in her point! Then when the car past she just walked back out. I wasnt riding, I just led her out instead for the first time and I am just such a proud owner.

You wouldnt think that she was an ex racer by her temperment, she is great. She is still on the slim side but obviously thats not going to change over a couple of days or weeks, but she has put some weight on already.

I AM THE PROUD OWNER OF A THOROUGHBRED! anyone else out there feel the same? I come home everyday with such big smiles on my face as she is just perfect for me!!

Pictures that I took today as followed and sorry if they come out big.

So here is Maisie:

She is so cute!

I know just how you feel. I've had my Bella for 15 months now and I can't imagine life without her. She's so honest and has such a work ethic. She loves to get out and work. She's never been phased by any of the things you expect a horse to be upset by - I think they see so many odd things at the track that they become essentially bombproof.

Yesterday, I took her for a hand walk around the farm and it was so nice, just a lazy walk with my friend, loose lead, taking our time. At one point, she stopped and wanted to just look across the fields and sniff the air and we must have stood there for 5 minutes, just being comfortable with each other.

The best part of every day is that welcoming whinny I get when I step out of my car. :)

Me tooo!!! Taking him XC schooling for our first time on saturday! :D

She's pretty, glad you got one of your own now! I wish you many happy years with ehr to enjoy :)

Yes, me too, I clock watch to the end of the day when I can finish work and rush to see him. He is so laid back, can't believe he was a race horse. I trust him 100%, he is such a love, but is cheeky too, could not have asked for more, although now he is retired from racing he thinks that is it and can be a bit lazy sometimes .

Glad to hear you are pleased with her, I think one of the best qualities of an ex racer is usually the nature, if you have got that on your side, everything else follows nicely.

She's pretty madam, good luck with her.

I love mine too :) she is only a baby but is such a poppet. Like a big dog. I've always loved TBs though. She isn't my first. The vet bills are the only draw back. This week's ailment is a swollen eye. Two weeks ago was an infected cut. A month before that was two fat back legs from tying her self in the fence. They're a liability, but of the best kind.

She is beautiful though. This is she.

love your girly. I hope you have many happy years to come. And that you convert many people to this wonderful breed.

I can now agree with you although have had my ex racer a year this month for the first few months I wanted to shoot him literally !

But we have muddled through and now he is becoming a little star x

She's lovely :D

I have a TBxID and have had him 3 years. I would never sell him and have grown such a great bond with him. Not many people feel confident riding him as he is quiet spooky and does get tense easily and if the rider is nervous then he is. The first time i ever sat on him i knew that he was the right horse for me :D

TB's Rock. We should make a clique maybe "I am the proud owner of a Thoroughbred"

Any other ideas?

I have two and would never have anything else! I have been offered another one for free tonight, but am not in a position to take him. Anyone who is, please PM me!
