My oh's horse has developed a large thoroughpin, which we attributing to the hard ground. He is 100% sound.
A couple of questions whilst we debate whether to call the vet:
- are thoroughpins purely a cosmetic issue, or a pre cursor for a more serious hock condition?
- is it safe to keep him in work (after a gentle hack yesterday it seemed to have reduced, but back up this morning)?
His main job is as a hunter in the winter, with mainly hacking and fun rides at this time of year, with an occasional pop over some sj's.
Thanks
