I am thinking of buying a 6 year old gelding who is sound and fit but who has thoroughpins on his hocks. Should I be concerned about these? Or windgalls?
I wouldn't have a problem buying a horse with a thoroughpin (as long as I didn't want to show it!) as they don't usually cause lameness. However, I would be a little suspicious of a 6 year old with thoroughpins and windgalls. To me that says either poor leg conformation or it's done too much, too young - and neither are great for long term soundness.
