So my cob is 4, she was fitted with a very smart farringtons showing working hunter saddle which is very straight cut - which suited us as doing hacking and flat work. However fast forward 6 months and shes gone wider and her shoulders have gone bulkier so the saddles now to narrow - pinching her at the shoulders, very tight and moving about alot and higher at the front. I have 2 saddles which i have tried, one is a GFS semi - straight cut saddle (bit more of a curve to it but not so straight as too be rolled back!) it seems to fit well untill i hacked out in it tonight - it was rising at the back slightly in the trot :(:( i have the saddler coming out next week to check it over and if needs be adjust or part ex it. Saddler deals in thorowgood saddles, sensibly she thinks i should look at the cob saddles with the changable gullets whilst shes still changing shape - thing is i don't really want a GP as i intend to do a bit of showing and i know that most GPs roll so therefore the straight cut option is my preference, plus i don't really want a synthetic. However i don't mind the thorowgood leather saddles and wondered if they did a straight cut cob with a changeable gullet?
Also if anyone has a xwide cob fitted with a thorowgood please could i see pics?

I'm actually selling my Thorowgood leather adjustable cob atmo (on ebay) it's the L6 same as Kent and Masters. You will see that the Thorowgood cob saddles are not very forward cut and I have shown in mine with no problem, it shows the shoulder off nicely. But of course it is all down to personal choice and whatever fits the horse of course. Good luck.x

Hi, I have a thorowgood t6 cob for my baby cob.

You'd have to look really closely to see it wasn't leather, and when you're sat on it I don't think it's noticeable. I chose it cos I want to show too, but wanted something reasonably priced and changeable for a growing boy!

Here's a couple of pics, this is with xxwide gullet. (scuse the stupid dressage leathers, had to steal them off my treeless til I got some normal ones!)
