Thorowgood PC Saddle

Does anyone on here have one of these - I have tried to investigate changing the gullet but the video on the Thorowgood website shows two screws that you undo underneath the pommel. My saddle does not have these bolts??

Very confused - any ideas?? Could it be a forgery? It has all the correct Thorowgood badges. I bought it off ebay - I suppose it could be old but it does not look like it has ever been anywhere near a pony - no marks on it whatsoever... not even where the stirup leathers go.

Only the new TG pony club saddles have a changeable gullet.

So are the old ones adjustable?

I have two of these - neither have changeable gullets. I guess they are about 4-5 years old.

The later of the two has fish inserts which can change the width to a small amount by narrowing just below the wither, but the earlier one does not have this option.

The old ones have the fish which you can change but not the gullets.

When did you get it?

Have got one, not sure bout the gullett, but see my post about slpping.

I bought it this week but it does not look like it has ever been used. Lovely saddle but it does not fit my Welsh A - too narrow. I have the spare fish inserts and it seems to have a couple in already - do you take them out to make it wider?

Think I might need to get a saddle fitter out.....

Yes taking them out should make it wider. Saddle fitter sounds like a good plan

I'll take them out and give it another go - if not I can put it straight back on ebay. Shame though - really nice saddle. Think I might have to invest in the new ones with the adjustable gullet.

They are fab saddles, I had the synthetic one for my old pony and have the leather one. Best of luck.
