I'm having a local saddle fitter out to fit a synthetic GP to my mare - she only deals with Thorowgood ones. Anyone got a Thorowgood? Are they good saddles? I've heard Wintec are decent but havent heard about these ones. I am getting a leather dressage saddle also so the synthetic is just for my jumping and hacking so use once/twice a week.

I love my T6 dressage throwgood

i've got a T4 high wither GP for my tb and took a while to get use to it after my old wintec but fit my horse nicely and find seat very comfortable. The FISH and adjustable gullet are really useful.

I'm not too sure about wintecs now as having spoken to a few saddlers i haven't heard great things. they tend to be quite curved and don't fit horses with flat withers e.g. cobs and high withered e.g. tbs.

Buying my 2nd Thorowgood saddle soon, this time for my flat backed cob.

A couple of my clients have the cob saddle and I HATE them! They give no rider support and tend to slip. don't know about the other styles.

I have a high withered thorowgood, I really like it, it fits my horse well and is very comfy. My only complaint is that it's not great for jumping high as the cantle is abit high and the knee rolls abit flat, it's more of a dressage style really, but therefore great for flatwork and hacking.

Good feedback thanks! I'll probably be getting the T4 GP I think. I wanted the changeable gullet and my saddle fitter said on the phone she advises to pay the little bit extra for that.

Personal opinion? Excellent! They get better and better. have had 3 over a period of a fewyears, 1 for each new horse.Always get Thorowgoods now BUT a lot depends, as in any saddle, on the fitter.
