Anyone have one? I'm looking to change my SC saddle, its a Cob version and not quite forward cut enough for bigger jumping, have just been offered a T6 GP but need to decide in next couple of days. Is the leather realistic, is the stirrup placement good/can you get a good position etc and most of all are they COMFY? Thankies for any replies

I love my Throwgood T6 mine is an older model but people never believe its plastic and I find them so much more confortable than wintecs!

This is mine

My mum has one of these. We think its a really nice saddle! Horse finds it ever so comfy, it was easy to fit by the saddler, comfy to ride in and puts you in a good position. It never needs to be cleaned yet always looks smart. Its light but substantial, and it feels like a proper saddle not like a cheap one (like the wintecs do

I was thinking of perhaps getting a dressage version as a second saddle, I like my mums so much and its at a price where you cant go far wrong really!

All good so far then, thanks. Couple more questions: do you have to use synthetic leathers? I'm rather attached to my super supple leather stirrup leathers, could I use these? Do these saddles squeak, you know how sometimes on synthetics your boots squeak against the flaps? Are the girth straps synthetic and if so, are they quite pliable? (pet hate of mine mega stiff girth straps). Think that's it, may think of more ...

You can use proper leathers, they are much nicer than synthetic ones. They do squeak a bit when new.
Girth straps are leather and soon supple up - but you might need a slightly longer girth initially.
The one downside that I find is that in very hot weather the flaps stick to my gaiters a bit - doesn't seem to happen with suede lined Ariat half chaps and haven't tried with long boots yet (haven't competed this horse in English tack much).
I was pleasantly surprised by this saddle - borrowed one when the saddler was trying to get my lovely Ideal VSD to fit - and was amazed by how much better she went in the Thorowgood.
In the end I decided to buy one. FYI, they do now offer it in Brown, which looks very nice, not at all plastic.

Love my Thorowgood. Its smart, light and not silly money.Haven't noticed any squeaks and use leather leathers.Think girth straps are leather as well, certainly supple enough for me.Its very comfortable for me, very comfortable for horse, his back is regaining muscle that it lost with a badly fitting saddle and the balance straps have been very easily altered in the yard by saddler to allow for the fact that horse is higher on right side than left. This allows me to sit more centrally and contributes further to both our comfort.

i have one on my rising 4 tb - i love it, its so comfy not like the other thorowgoods and loads better than my wintec imo

i use leather stuirrup leathers and all is fine

Well this is all very positive, no negatives yet at all, the one I'm after is miles away so wld have to buy unseen (though have seen very good photos), really would have liked to have seen one in the flesh first but I've yet to hear a bad word about them so think will take the risk, in any case if its not suitable can always sell it on ebay

The only negative I have is that I can't Bl00dy find one to buy

Have been looking out for a second hand one for ages but they are either the wrong size, colour or not the high withered design!
